MemberSee Bridlington Bay with Miles of sand…………………………
Good to see Viking shoqing well in the Sony nominations this year – It may not be the biggest and the sexiest location ( HULL IS grim!) but its a great station.

I used to live in Hull – I didn’t find it grim at all . . . better than shitty Leeds where I am now

Nah, it’s a superb place! Such a vibe, locally and on a media basis as well. Lots of great places to socialise in and out of the town, and you’re only a few minutes away from the gorgeous Yorkshire countryside.
Hurrah to Leeds – I’m a big fan!

MemberI wonder if Viking’s birthday got a mention on air; there’s certainally no mention of it on their web site. Having said that, I guess it’s not “hip” to be 20 years old.
On the subject of birthdays, it’s Hallam’s 30th birthday on October 1st.

Happy birthday Viking!!!
“Viking …..1161 AM!!!!!”
Or if you prefer ….
“Viking Radio …In Stereo….Viking 258!”
Or…
“Fly on the wings of progress in Hull – Birthplace of Amy Johnson….”
I can remember such names as Tim Findlay and Freddie Allen (whatever happened to Freddie?), brightening up dull evenings , and of course those classic Cath Baxter jingles (and a not so bad package by LBS as well) …plus ads for Polar (“You Always get a Polar Deal at Polar”) , Ron Ramsden, and NISA ( “That’s N-I-S-A , NISA !”) …

Ah yes . . . Nisa is Nicer – though in reality it was shite (not the jingle though)

Working at Viking, I have to say no one in the office knew anything about it!!!!
I only found out by looking by chance in x-trax(so it does have a purpose), then I told the marketing manager on Friday and she didn’t really seem to care!!!
Wouldn’t have thought it would have got a mention on air!!!
It’s a shame, no party, no celebration!!!!
Buts that’s EMAP for ya!!!!
Matt
Ps Leeds is so much better than ‘ull
