For my sins, I am part of the team at Phoenix FM in Halifax & we are in the final stages of preparation before our launch in September.
As far as station imaging is concerned, we are planning to use / re-edit our professionally recorded liners used on previous RSL's.
Money (or the distinct lack of it) is preventing us (ok,me) from going out & getting that beautiful bespoke sung package that we (I) would really like.
As a compromise, I have thought of combining our liners in the ramp up / down of a sung “the breakfast show”, “in the morning”, “in the afternoon” etc.
The question is, can you buy these sort of generic cuts for on air use and does anyone have any idea of cost?
The other question, for which I would welcome feedback from you guys, is do you think that it would make us sound cheesy and / or cheap?

      Thanks people

PS. If anybody's got a spare few hundred quid you dont need, I could give it a good home & put it to good jingley use!!!!

Ah The memories of using generics.
As a former hospital radio jock in Halifax [Radio Calderdale] we then used Alfasound jingles.
Christ, i loved them at the time.
They were re sung from these generic cuts
            .

Ah yes! A Radio Calderdale roadshow at Morrisons in Illingworth during an afternoon of 'fun' at an ITV telethon fundraiser (1987?) I was there relieving people of their hard earned cash! :D
The Alfasound cuts got a couple of airings. This of course was in the 'basement' days wasn't it – a far cry from the current top-notch set up in the new hospital.

I Remember it well Gazz.,`85/87 was my tiny era
They had a patchfield in the studio that i just could not get my head round.
If for some rason it wasn`t set up then my show was ditched.
