Good to hear new JAM jingles (I think) on air at Fresh 102.7 (formerly WNEW-FM, I think). Have been listening to the feed, and the jingles sound contemporary – solo female voice. Sorry I don't have the technology to record them.
The “on air” logos on the JAM website include the station.
Info about the new station here – a more contemporary challenge to Lite-FM:

January 6, 2007 at 4:01 am #28309joejinglesI never would have guessed these were JAM jingles. They are unique and are a welcome in this stale city. The station is good, in my book. Sort of “Jack meets Lite”. It made sense to start up on Jan 2, 2007. That equates to “102.7” I guess.
jrcJanuary 6, 2007 at 6:29 am #28310ratnobMemberAuthorAgreed. One of the articles above compares the station to SOJO, and I'd probably have assumed the jingles were from ReelWorld. My only reason for stating that they're by JAM is that the exact Fresh 102.7 logo is showing on the JAM site. It's perhaps the first sign of what many people have been predicting for 2007 – a resurgence and new competitiveness from JAM.
January 6, 2007 at 8:39 am #28313AdminI've been listening to Fresh since it signed on the other day. I'm not sure if the jingles are JAM or not, but some of the cuts remind me of the Heartbeat package for Heart 106.2.
From a professional viewpoint Fresh is trying to be Lite FM and WPLJ at the same time. I doubt it'll go anywhere, but we'll see. Looking at the logs from yesterday, some of the songs stick out as being odd. Their liners say “we're new, we're soft and we're fresh”…so how does that explain Semisonic's Closing Time, REM The One I Love, Hey Ya from Outkast and Rock Your Body from Justin Timberlake…? I understand they are trying to be an uptempo version of Lite FM, but those songs are hardly soft.
Also, sad to see that the heritage WNEW call letters will be leaving NYC soon.
January 6, 2007 at 10:59 am #28314ratnobMemberAuthorHmmmm. I keep listening and trying to fathom whether the jingles really can be from JAM – very unusual. But why would the station logo have appeared on the JAM “on the air” panel if it wasn't them? They seem to use the same basic cut in different versons every link with a voice over; the station name spoken by a female group; the frequency sung by a female solo voice. Certainly no hint of “the rich vocal sound you only get from JAM”. The mystery continues …
January 6, 2007 at 12:47 pm #28318MarcMannetjeThey ARE from JAM – if you go to the JAM website http://www.jingles.com and you click to DEMO DOWNLOAD there's a banner that says “JAM is used by the best broadcasters worldwide”. And… the name of Fresh 102.7 appears.
I hope this solves your queest.
Have a nice day!

January 6, 2007 at 3:35 pm #28326MarcMannetjeI've listened on line for an hour and I'm sure I heared some cuts from the JAM package called 'Heartbeat', originally created for Heart 106.2 in London UK in the 90s… The package is still available in the demo section of the JAM site…
January 6, 2007 at 4:45 pm #28330ratnobMemberAuthorOkay, here's a quick recording through my Apple's microphone. It will give you the flavour of what we're talking about. Anyone recognise the track? Is it JAM? Apologies for the quality.

January 6, 2007 at 7:24 pm #28332passajouSoRry, but I didn´t like this jingles. It´s JAM? !dodge
January 6, 2007 at 8:11 pm #28333kcmikeThanks for snagging those, Geoff. I just love a jingle mystery.
Nice vocals, but not much instrumentation. I haven't even a guess. If it's JAM, it's certainly different than any JAM I'm familiar with.
I'm with Neal on the format. I don't see replacing all that heritage for a gimmicky crossover format.

January 6, 2007 at 8:18 pm #28336joejinglesIt still reminds me of “JACK meets LITE”. I like the mix of music, if I may use that term. And from this 58 year old, that is saying something. Light 106.7 is just a big bore! I could never figure what constitutes “light” (or smoothe jazz for that matter-but that's subject for another post). It is always a pleasure to hear something new, even if it's only in a manner of promotion. And jingles, always a welcome!
BTW I think ReelWorld needs to revisit its website and change a statement concerning ReelHolidays. They said Lite FM in NY NEVER had a jingle. Wrong! They had at least two TMC Christmas/ Holiday jingles starting about 2002 and used for at least 3 holiday seasons.January 6, 2007 at 10:38 pm #28340JAM / PAMSMemberI was wondering how long it would take for this to appear as a thread!
Yes, the jingles on the new Fresh 102.7 in New York are from JAM. It is a custom project which is still in progress. There is a lot more material to come, and you will hear it appear on the air over the next several weeks.
The fact that someone said “I never would have guessed these are JAM jingles” was exactly the point. The station wanted a signature sound which did not resemble traditional A-C jingles, or other stations in the market. As I have often said to those who say “everything you do sounds the same”, all it takes to get something different is to have the courage and creativity to ASK for something different. To their credit, these guys did.
January 6, 2007 at 10:50 pm #28342ratnobMemberAuthorAha – it's official. Many thanks for the confirmation, Mr W. I've enjoyed listening to them on the air today, and great to hear that there's more on the way.

January 7, 2007 at 4:11 am #28344joejinglesTruly something Fresh in New York! The versatility of JAM never ceases to amaze.
Thanks Mr W.
joe cJanuary 7, 2007 at 1:39 pm #28354JingleMadMemberJanuary 7, 2007 at 9:32 pm #28375ratnobMemberAuthorI've carried on listening to the statin today, and what's striking is just how memorable the jingles are and how well (as ever) they blend with the music.
The station's really growing on me. I guess any change of format will always be sub-dividing someone else's exisiting format – unless there's some undiscovered radio format out there waiting to be unearthed. What's striking about Fresh is the sheer range of music.
Looking forward to hearing a bigger variety of IDs in the weekes ahead.
