If the rumours are true……….
1PM today….On Line, On Digital and on 88-91FMAugust 22, 2015 at 12:35 pm #98306LenGroatGet your finger poised over the red ‘record’ button on your cassette machine!
August 22, 2015 at 1:07 pm #98307DuncanNewmarchMemberI’m listening… should I mention that my pants are dry at the moment?! 1962 and 76 this week so new PAMS stuff would fit right in
August 22, 2015 at 1:13 pm #98308IainJohnston???
so far…? apart from saying 1972 instead of ’62 – but judging by the DS-radio forums he always “fluffs” these things…The “record button” IS pressed…
August 22, 2015 at 1:20 pm #98309DuncanNewmarchMemberMaybe not. He’s just played 2 and both were old.
August 22, 2015 at 1:21 pm #98310RobinBlamiresDon’t give up hope. I’ve known for a long time POTP has been longing to buy “70s” sounding jingles.
With the second year being the significant “1976” we may be in for a treat!
August 22, 2015 at 1:27 pm #98311UKJinglesMemberAuthorI think Robin is right as these were recorded in Dallas (rather than UK) So JAM rather than PAMS?
August 22, 2015 at 1:41 pm #98312PPMThere was an interesting tweet 2 days ago from Simon Prentice:
https://twitter.com/SimonPrentice/status/634448221448851456
But surely it’s too early for these to be on the air ?
August 22, 2015 at 1:51 pm #98313RobinBlamiresAs the old saying goes, “Tempus Consumit Res Creare”.
August 22, 2015 at 1:52 pm #98314LenGroat“But surely it’s too early for these to be on the air ?”
Theoretically not – with (some) JAM sessions being on a Thursday, and then a quick mix and download (it took 2 weeks in 1990….)
And nice to hear Tony play the original version of one of ‘OUR’ jingles!
August 22, 2015 at 2:41 pm #98315IainJohnstonHmmmmm
– what is they always say?
“Don’t believe everything that people say on the internet…simply because its there…”Ah well, maybe next week…
PS – those of us “of a certain age” will remember that “traditionally” Radio One would update its jingle packages
around the anniversary date of 1967 at the end of September, since that was when 12/24-month jingle contracts
naturally expired, to be replaced by fresh packages or big updates or even a different jingle company.THATs when “record buttons” would most often be pressed – and so often with excellent “results” :^)
August 22, 2015 at 3:39 pm #98317UKJinglesMemberAuthorYou won’t believe who the rumour came from………
Sorry to of wasted 2 hours of everybody’s life today!!I will definitely be having a “Wet Your Pants Saturday” in four weeks time though….Nothing to do with Jingles but rather a mad man in a blue box!
August 22, 2015 at 6:37 pm #98318RobinBlamiresIn the meantime, it’s listening to BBC 6 Music in the coming week as trails have hinted a few (UK sung) PAMS resings for their upcoming Pop Art season.
August 22, 2015 at 6:49 pm #98319LenGroatIt was a bit like the hens in the hen house thought they heard a fox outside!?
Never mind, console yourself with newly re-sung JAM cut on the Solid Gold GEM AM topic – just posting NOW
August 29, 2015 at 7:38 pm #98342UKJinglesMemberAuthor5 New Jingles (including 1 sonovox) …Three weeks time!
This is interesting……. If you have a spare hour!August 30, 2015 at 9:07 am #98344IainJohnstonInteresting “blethers” from Tony – but no “fast forward” or “download mode”?
Can “someone” perhaps grab the podcast and edit it down to the “bit we’d like to hear” please?
(…and looks like my remarks above about the “annual September anniversary of the 1967 startup” and jingle contract “turnover dates” might be near the mark after all?)
August 30, 2015 at 4:00 pm #98346gameswizardMemberHere’s the audio. I didn’t edit it though.
Tony played a load of old PAMS jingles later on.September 19, 2015 at 9:49 am #98484PKMemberSo is today the big day for the new jingles on Pick Of Pops?
Will we need to have a good supply of Pampers Nappies on stand by for a certain Mr Wilson ha ha?
September 19, 2015 at 10:53 am #98485UKJinglesMemberAuthorHaHa you beat me to it..
It could be a double whammy for me today!!September 19, 2015 at 1:05 pm #98488PKMemberRe-lyric for Pete of Tony’s cut from PAMS Series 27;
“In High Wycombe, they Pamper Peter, when Tony’s jingles, the new one’s excite”…
“You’ll find Pete, wet with excitement at the new JAM jingles on Pick Of The Pops”!!!
September 19, 2015 at 2:37 pm #98490UKJinglesMemberAuthorNo Double Wammy Today!
PK: It’s Sandhurst (not High Wycombe) but hey it fits even better!! LOL
September 19, 2015 at 3:05 pm #98491PKMemberI’m sure Mr Wolfert or S2Blue could fit Sandhurst into the lyrics with no problems
Even more funny if Tony did the chart with The Goodies Nappy Love in it ha ha!
September 19, 2015 at 7:30 pm #98492UKJinglesMemberAuthorJust posted on Facebook….
“In three weeks time on Pick Of The Pops @bbcradio2 we have some great new jingles for you which I can’t wait for you to hear !!!”
So that makes it the 10th October 2015
September 19, 2015 at 8:45 pm #98493PKMemberSo Aldi Sandhurst have plenty of time to get in good supplies of Pampers heh Pete lol? ;-P
September 23, 2015 at 8:14 pm #98511GrahamCollinsJust heard them – five cuts, all resings of Radio 1 classics – lovely stuff
