Fellow Jingle freaks,
This might seem like a tall order, but to have what I would like to have would be very beneficial.
For one of my classes at school…ur, college, I am supposed to give a presentation about how WHTZ (Z100) helped change the way people listened to radio in America, and it requires a little Audio Aide. I’ve got a wide collection of Z sounds and jingles to be incorporated into my presentation, but I would like to have a little icing on the cake.
With that in mind, I was wondering if anyone out there in jingle land knew of a website that has an extended version of the Top of the Hour cut from “Turbo Z” with Z100’s signature…in the clear, no talkovers. (And by Extended, I mean about :30 seconds worth of music bed.) If you do know of one, I would greatly appriciate it. If not, that’s cool, and I’m sorry for wasting anyone’s time. Thanks.
J.K.—

In the absence of anyone turning up the “official” extended version, maybe this will do the trick for your presentation (the bed’s almost spot on 30 seconds):

I especially like the key change!

Although when I Played it, some of the people in my class had a look on their face that either said “WTF?” or a good kind of “Wow!” to me. Either way, it went pretty well.

December 9, 2004 at 7:28 am #14610recOne of my favorite cuts of all time has been TZ Cut #10. In fact, I have had several different mixouts made for REC over the years. We use the last three notes of the cut as our musical logo.
Anyway, since the same old jingle gets old after awhile, sometimes you are pushed to freshen up the sound but you are strapped for cash and you don’t want to lose the identity that you have created with your well established (and played to death) jingle.
In the attached, you will see where we just took a couple of segments of the TZ #10 cut and ran them backwards, added a little magic with the acapellas and viola! a new jingle that still has the old feel but with a new flavor.
Also on the attached, you will see how we got creative by not running the music tracks backwards but our sung REC logo backwards into the normal tracks. So if we ever want to change our name from REC to E-cee-rah, we are good to go. Enjoy!

That is most definitely a different take on that cut. I liked the first version. Great creativity.

Well, if you thought the actual presentation was done entirely on some form of audio, I’m afraid you’re mistaken. I just typed up and rattled off a speech about it and “transcribed” some online Z100 airchecks onto a tape recorder. The long jingle at the end was somewhat just a bonus, but what a bonus.
