Sorry to post a question about Christmas … in January ???? I forgot to post it in December and if I leave it another 12 months it’ll depart my brain completely!
Anyway – I remember in the early 80s Radio 1 used to use a music bed which was an uptempo, moog version of “Ding Dong Merrily On High”. I’m wondering if this was a JAM cut or something from a KPM library etc.
Only 49 more weeks left till the Big Day *hides*

I remember that being played/used on Steve Wright’s show. Wow… great medium wave memories.
January 14, 2018 at 3:55 pm #87018DuncanNewmarchMemberIt’s a KPM track, originally released on vinyl and then CD which I have somewhere. I know it’s on YouTube too. Search the KPM archive online, I’m sure you’ll find it.
January 15, 2018 at 10:17 pm #87005GrahamCollins100s of the original KPM 1000 Series LPs are now on Spotify, but I couldn’t find this little ditty. I did however locate a theme tune that I’ve been after since 1975 !

Searching both sites EMI Production Music & APM Music for Ding Dong Merrily On High (I also tried Ding Dong Moogily On High), it’s not there.
There’s lots of versions.
Search results: 27 tracks (23 for “Ding Dong Moogily On High”). Filter result and KPM has 12 tracks.January 16, 2018 at 7:06 am #87007Davey_wMemberAuthorI couldn’t find anything either.

January 21, 2018 at 4:33 am #87000gameswizardMemberYour (sample) tune Mark – the lyrics would be 4 Calling Birds, 3 French Hens, 2 Turtle Doves, and a Partidge In A Pear Tree – is the Carol “The Twelve Days Of Christmas” featured on “The Best Of Christmas Part 2”.
Unfortunately, the part of Ding Dong Merrily On High featured on Part 1 is not the one:
https://soundcloud.com/gameswizard2014/nuptown-keys-the-best-of-christmas-ding-dong-merrily-on-high-sampleThe Ding Dong Merrily On High in question was a very upbeat, up tempo. It was quite a cheeky sounding, slapstick take on the Carol.
I get the feeling, from memory (i.e. 30+ years ago), that maybe one of the instruments used on the tune “sounded like” a cross between perhaps a kazoo & tracing paper over a comb.

It was released as a single back in the 1980’s (I remember playing it on Hospital Radio)
But you can still buy it (if you’re quick!)Pete

Mark, that’s the track I was thinking about. I sorted through all of my library music last year (it was taking up way too much space) and threw 80% of it out- including that!
January 21, 2018 at 3:53 pm #86981GrahamCollinsFound it and downloaded a very decent .wav version – the whole track is 9’31 but I couldn’t stomach all of it – the end piece that Mark has found is the best bit !
January 21, 2018 at 4:23 pm #86982gameswizardMemberthe end piece… is the best bit !
Once In Royal David’s City at around 5m23s~5m52s is pretty decent.
The medieval sounding tune at around 1m23s~2m03s is pretty weird. What Carol is that I wonder?January 21, 2018 at 5:31 pm #86983jonnoMemberDo you mean this?

Pretty sure I’ve got an Ocean Sound aircheck on cassette somewhere with a promo using this track (last spot in a break) going into a jingle.

Ooh thanks – I’ll keep an eye on this!
February 7, 2018 at 1:13 pm #102512jinglejimMemberDid anyone here win the eBay auction?
Was it actually the Christmas stingers and beds used on Radio One back in 1983?February 10, 2018 at 5:37 pm #102516Davey_wMemberAuthorI did buy it …. and sadly it wasn’t the bed I remember from Radio One. BBC1 definitely used that Nuptown Corporation single for their Christmas trailers …. but sadly the search for that moog “Ding Dong Merrily on High” goes on!
