I contacted David Arnold for a showreel of his work. What turned up was a giant jiffy bag full on jingle packages and TV themes. Once i’ve had a listen, I will upload some.
Any news on the Dave Barras archive site?

It will still be in force, and historically a great deal of his production work is still under tightly controlled & licenced Library Services (e.g. Carlin). If there are intact jingle packages and in good quality, there’s a good chance of a Holy Grail or two appearing – so you could well have some good swap material on your hands!
So will be interesting to hear what he’s given you
October 16, 2013 at 8:00 pm #69640Neunie74I will ask before I post anything.
Any info on the Dave Barras archive anyone?

Nice one. You should be ok uploading his sung jingles but, as Iain states, be careful with the instrumentals. Actually, you’ve inspired me to do another David Arnold montage. Tapes and CDs out at the ready
November 13, 2013 at 10:11 pm #92283IanFWell, here’s the montage as promised. Below is the You Tube version. The montage is also on the Jinglemad Soundcloud page.
PS – Great to have you back Jinglemad by the way
November 17, 2013 at 6:03 pm #92314SpoonsCan’t beat a bit of David Arnold. Great montage. Makes me tempted to dust off the old cassettes!
Neunie74, have you ascertained what was in the bag yet?
November 28, 2013 at 10:47 am #92428star tetleyWould anybody be kind enough to post David Arnold BBC Leicester or Cambridge packages?
November 28, 2013 at 12:51 pm #92433IainJohnstonI must admit that as someone who “missed out” on the David Arnold era for stations across the south and south-east of the UK in the 1980s, quite a few of his packages are on my Grails List for good quality dubs rather than mushy MP3s made from hissy cassette demos or montages that “hide” other quality issues.
I now recognise various Arnold (pre-TM/C era) items from my old aircheck cassettes, made while passing through areas,
e.g.Gwent Broadcasting
Hereward Radio (very “similar” to the Gwent, or vice versa), various
Southern Sound
Radio Broadland
Radio Mercury, various
Marcher Sound
Radio West 1983(?)
Wiltshire Radio…and probably there’s loads more I can’t think of at the moment.
December 6, 2013 at 11:09 am #92553PrometheusHi Iain – picked up on your comment about Holy Grails. Are any of the Southern Sound bits here of interest to you. Surprisingly (for me) I have two of the packages in wav format.
Hope it’s of use.

I know there’s been a lot of cassette audio of 1980s Arnold material, especially demos, but digital WAV dubs from station/studio reels of proper packages do seem to be a bit more of a rarity.
