With the new TM Century personal cut scheme, I’m thinking of having one of my favourite cuts re-sung, cut #10 from Dallas Power – http://www.studiodragonfly.com/jingles/0038.asp
The demo lyrics are “The Texas music machine… Y95”, and the lyrics I was thinking of having sung are “The Manchester music machine… Rob McCaffery” but I’m not 100% sure that works, so here’s where I’d like your help/advice…
Can anyone think of other examples of this cut with different lyrics to the front sing, to give me inspiration? I’ll start you off with…
Summer in the city… (OK Radio) any others??

Aire FM had Dallas Power #10 re-sung with the lyrics “Yorkshire’s Best Music Mix…Radio Aire FM” while 2FM Eire had it re-sung “Ireland’s Music Machine…Nighttime 2FM”. On my lastest JingleMad JingleMix CD you will have heard the WAVA version that goes “The Fifty Thousand Watt Music Machine…WAVA”. Can’t think of any other re-sings at the minute………..

September 11, 2005 at 1:40 am #25123robynretroHi, I’m a new member and I’m glad to have found this place!
As far as Dallas Power #10, here’s a few lyrics from several stations in my part of the country that had used that package as well as the years that it was used.
Z-95.1 WZZG/Charlotte, NC (now Kiss 95.1 WNKS) 1990
“Gorilla Radio, Z95.1” (The gorilla was their mascot)
G-105 WDCG Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, NC (1989) (some cuts from Dallas Power were reused in 1993, but not this cut.
“Less Talk, Less Reputation, And A Better Music Mix, G-105 (Yes, the whole jingle was lyriced that way and used between songs, rather than a TOH ID)
Mix 96 WMXF Fayetteville, NC (now Oldies 96.5 WFLB) (1990-1993)
“Carolina’s Best Music Mix, Mix 96”
They also had a alternate version that went like this:
“Carolina’s Best Music M-M-M-Mix, Mix 96”
Wave 104/WYAV Myrtle Beach, SC (Late 1989-1991, was brought back in 1993 before they’ve flipped to Classic Rock.)
“The Grand Strand’s Number 1, Wave 104
103-X/WJMX Florence, SC (1993)
“South Carolina’s Number 1, 103-X
Some more outside of my general area:
Power 108/WPHR Cleveland, OH (1990)
“A Great City By A Great Bay, Power 108”
Lite Rock 95.7 (forgot the calls at the moment) Tampa, FL (1990) (This was a Hot AC)
“Summertime In Tampa Bay, 95.7”

September 12, 2005 at 1:36 am #25127bulger23Great info on those re-sings RobynRetro.
Thought I would post a couple of examples. One, as Mark mentioned, WAVA and the second from KQCR Cedar Rapids.

A lot can be made to fit in a short space, but when writing your lyrics, don’t overload and keep in mind the key music points of the bed itself.
Hope this helps some.

Thank you TC!!!!! You have to forgive me for being wrong on the G-105 lyrics as I’ve haven’t heard it since 1989, but I could’ve have sworn that they had another version of that cut that had the lyrics that I’ve had in my post.
As mentioned, G-105 never used this jingle as their TOH, they were using JAM’s Fresh Kiss, Cut #1 with the stager bed as their sweep starter/legal ID. They only used this package for one year before it was replaced by JAM’s Turbo Z. Some cuts were reused in 1993 , but shortly afterwards, G-105 stop using jingles alltogether untill 1999 when JAM’s Z+ and Power Intros was purchased.
Prehaps you would be kind to us and load up the G-105 and Wave 104 versions of Dallas Power into the download section? I would love to hear them again.
Thanks again,

No biggie on the G-105 lyrics. It’s possible that they had another version sung that I haven’t come across yet.
FYI… the WYAV version was sung on December 20, 1989 w/add’l cuts & resings done on January 9, 1990. The WDCG version was sung on February 24, 1989.
I’ll try to upload a few examples from these Dallas Power packages in the next few weeks. I’ll be on the road quite a bit the rest of September, so I might not get to it for a while.
Best,
-TC

September 12, 2005 at 11:09 pm #25131robynretroThanks TC. Looking forward to hearing them. I do remember when WYAV put those on the air. It was a month or so after Hurricane Hugo and that package was used to replace the Firstcom “KIIS ’88” package they were using.
One more that I’ve remembered using that cut was KUBE in Seattle. It wasn’t fancy it just went like this:
(bed) K-K-K-K-K-K KUBE.
Another that I was told that used this cut (but haven’t heard it myself to verify if it is true or not) was Q-104/KBEQ-Kansas City. Alledgely, it went:
(bed) The Number #1 Hit Music Station, Q-104.
Q-104 did use other cuts from Dallas Power though.
