A very brief sample

Open/Acapella endings?!? With reverb! :^)

And a Global-etc-ish (or worse, Meccano-ish, with the canned v/os poorly mixed to too-low level of the “pad”) pre-record news-in
– which must at least be better than quite a few R2 presenters who persistently “crash” the logo with poor sense of timing.
Hope that the “better” ones might be “permitted” to do the v/o live.

New jingles all around – and sounding very “on trend”. I like them – they’re different and reflect the new direction Radio 2 has been going towards (slowly) for quite some time. Also the shock relisation that I am now within the target demographic for Radio 2 (having listened since the age of 10, back in the days of Sir Terry in the morning and Johnnie Walker in the evening!)

The build quality is very Wisebuddah, but I had my share of doubts… 🤔

Undecided about these – I’m not so keen on all the female end vocals.
Interesting virtually all the imaging fails to mention FM or DAB at all – It’s all about BBC Sounds.
It is rumored that this is a push to move listening from other platforms to Sounds so if the licence fee gets pulled they can put sounds behind a paywall so want to move as many listeners there as possible to get content.
And if anyone is interested last night Lisa Tarbuck shouted over the news jingles “…and on your smart trousers..” – Love Lisa!

Yeah, it’s pretty similar to what the Local BBC Radio did years ago, except they didn’t bother to say ’88 to 91 FM’ at all.
I wish they did, so on the TOTH, it’s ‘On FM, on DAB, on BBC Sounds and on your smart speaker’ so, the FM lads won’t miss out.

Overall, Radio 2’s new jingles are alright, it’s not bad, but definitely need some room for improvement, tbh.
And by this point, ex-R2 listeners already made the switch to GHR or Boom Radio because, darn… the Beeb really screwed over its listeners.

New jingles all around, very “on trend” – also comes with the shock realisation that at the age of 30 I am probably not far off the target demographic for Radio 2 now. (I was listening at the age of 10).
