Compass FM has recently started using some new jingles which sound so 80s Alfasoundish. Appalling tracks, poor weak vocals (imho of course), which is a shame as this station needs all the help it can get.

Steve England has been producing some great packages in the last few years, surely these can’t have come from his stable can they?

Anyone have any info on them?.

      Cheers

      Gin gal

P.S Also, the new male station voice is not as convincing as the one they been using since their launch, who is he, anyone know?.

Sounds like it’s the New Lincs FM Group Custom Steve’s done for the whole group – Dearne have got them as well, and to be honest with you, they’re not fantastic…

Has anyone at the Lincs FM Group considered having “UKRD -Todays Radio” by JAM resung for them – I know I’ve mentioned this before, but surely a package like that would be better than what they’ve got.

Sorry for dragging this one up from the bowels of the Jinglemad server, but this week I have had the pleasure of working in Immingham :((

However, on the bright side, it did allow me to sample the delights of KCFM's KVIL resings (thank you Mr Wolfert), WHRC (not sure) and of course Compass FM's offerings.
As the o.p. has commented, it was like stepping back in time to the mid 80's (jingle-wise of course). It really does sound as if Mr England has re-grouped Steve & the girls.
                Surely not?

Only joking – Immingham aint that bad. :D

KCFM is from JonesTM and not JAM.

There's an aircheck of Compass FM's jingles at JingleNews.

So is the downlaod from Rob T the current Compass FM offering?

Both Rob T and Paul's Jinglenews link are the same set of Jingles which are from JAM's KOST package
they are not bad but you are never going to get a vocal sound like the Dallas singers (the most experienced Singers in the world!) produced in the UK

If you compare the 2 there is No Comparison!

The guy doing the voiceovers is Nigel Williams who has been the main voiceover for LBC in London for many years now, also he is a stand presenter for Smooth Fm in London.

I think the jingles are ok and Compass has improved massively since it first went on air

As the proud owner of a new wifi internet radio, I've been able to listen to various stations over the past few weeks, including Ridings FM in Wakefield who're using the latest Lincs FM package from Steve England.

I'm in total agreement with other comments on this subject – namely that this package, although quite new, sounds tired, boring and uninspired. The depth of musical melody which has been present in recent Steve England work is nowhere to be heard in this tiresome package which grates more than it excites.

Ridings FM struggles to sound fresh and exciting at the best of times – and its on air ID sound is not helping.

I'm afraid I have to agree with you there, James. Steve's previous work has been better than the recent LincsFM group package. Below par big time. He did a far better job of the recent Lakeland Radio package. More creativity in that one and the BBC Local packages are very good and effective on air too.

While I'm here the Insight Radio resing package is now online and sounds good. Some lovely harmonies in there but sounds deeper on the Insight Radio website than it does on Steve's demo. But well sung all the same. Well done Steve and co.
