East Devon community station Bay FM have recently started airing sung jingles on air, I’ve recored a few and uploaded some, https://soundcloud.com/superstarcraig/bay-1064-east-devon-jingles … my question is do community stations benefit from spending their limited funds on sung jingles or does it help make the station sound more professional? and I can imagine some sung jingles done on the cheap could sound horrific, does anyone have any good/bad examples?

Interesting point – I would look at it the other way around – if a community station just uses sweepers, which all sound the same (SFX-station name-whoosh-station name in telephone bandwidth-SFX-drone-echo’d fade) then they miss an opportunity to ‘sound’ more professional.

The presenters need to be jingle savvy as well but spending a fortune is not necessarily required.
