In this topic, let’s talk about logos in jingles what sound so similar but aren’t the same:

-The logo what ALFA used for Neptune Radio sounds very similar to the one they used for Centre Radio, but I doubt it is the same one. There are also a few jingles using a very similar sounding logo for a station branded as “Oldies 105”.
-When I listened to a radiowest.ca jingle of the day montage, I realized that the logo used in some of the CKYL jingles sound exactly like the logo what JAM used for Heart 106.2.

      Any examples of more?

        Audio then?
Otherwise no-one will have a clue what you’re on about! (yes, some of us will or do, but if there’s no “sound”…..?)

The Heart 106.2 logo is based on the one used for WRQX in JAM’s Digital Mix and various TM Century “Mix” packages, as well as KMWX in JAM’s Master Mix package and WALK in JAM’s First Step package. And the logo used for 94.3 The Point in the TM Next Hot AC series is identical to the old Heart one as well. There have been plenty of resings of all those packages with the same logo melody, as well as stations adopting the logo to other packages. Not sure if it’s coincidental so much as the logo melody just being popular.

I don’t know what melody Neptune Radio or Centre Radio used, but I’m guessing it’s also a commonly used one.

Last item on your audio – Tanner’s 55 KSD and more familiar to UK collectors as resung for Manx Radio in the the Isle of Man.

Most “coincidental” (ha!) That of TM Phase II and Johnny Mann/Drake at the very late 60s/early 70s. And cloned.

These days. The “art” of creating a totally “new” logo is almost lost.
The days of PAMS’ logos created for e.g KFWB or WAYS are superceded by the 3-note bland that is basically a lift of the last 3 notes of the “ha!” Logo I’ve described above. 5 minutes at any (piano or whatever) keyboard and the convergence to what is heard now is obvious. Sadly.

It does sound similar in terms of sung melody. On that one jingle, it sings out “Six-ten C-K-Y-L~”, almost in the same melody as “Heart One-oh-six point two~”

I got them from these jingle montage videos I’ve been binge watching for the past year:

                      Oldies 105 – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQRXxDP_H2s

                      CKYL – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVjrChzgrys&t=1046s

Scroll through the videos and you’ll find them. 🙂

So it might be the same, or not, but cut 2 of JAM’s Magic Music 6 is similar to one of the old jingle cuts of now-defunct 90.3 MY (DWMY-FM) in Naga City, Philippines.

                          90.3 MY part – skip to 1:49.

I’ve got another one – some 1570 CHLO jingles had a very similar sounding logo to Piccadilly Radio’s jingles from the 1970’s-1980’s.

Here’s something a bit current. Ever noticed how Brandy’s earlier Q Music jingles had a similar logo melody to that of the earlier Europe 2 jingles?
(no slandering of either jingle companies intended)

                              For comparison:
                              This is Q-Music’s

                              This is Europe 2’s
