For what it's worth, I spoke to the former Peters Productions people. The masters were stored in a warehouse… in which they needed space. The masters and references were dumpstered.

Come to think of it, I was a jingle collector in the seventies too. Is this a trend in this thread?
Here's a STEREO PAMS 3 Minute sampler, for grins 'n chuckles. Note that the GOLDMINE package doesn't use the standard logo. Kinda strange, but it fits.
Enjoy…

Membera young Jon Wolfert said “Why don't we just call it Clyde” and it stuck. Since they named it CLYDE, they had to think of something it meant… so they came up with C)olossal L)ogos Y)ou D)idn't E)xpect. There was also a “KLYDE” demo version of the package for “K” stations.
Almost correct. The WKNR package was originally called Sig Alert, but then more cuts were added. There was a PAMS production & sales meeting one Saturday morning, and the sales guys wanted a different name. No one could think of anything, so one of them (it was either Dennis Meeks or Fred Hardy) said “let's just call it Clyde and get on with it”. The “young Jon Wolfert” person you referred to was the one who came up with what the letters could stand for. It was also my idea to make the “K” version and call it Klyde.
As far as song rip offs are concerned, there are many in the WKNR-FM Stereo Island package. In fact, the whole idea of “Stere-ere-ere-o” was borrowed from a Canadian commercial for “Ontari-ari-ari-o Place”. But the most song rips per minute occurs in Series 39, which was done for WKNR-AM at about the same time.

MemberI just LOVE hearing the background to how some of these classic jingles and their names came about.

TC – re Your PAMS 3 minute montage…nice one – thanks!!

MemberAuthorI'll second that Bossjock! and TC has montaged some (but not all) of the same bits I was lining up!
(Did I hear “k-wxi” or two in there? very lush, classy production)Another montage from me – um…soon – but Bossjock will recognise EVERY cut I'm sure ;^))

Its mainly PAMS, also some TM… but all linked by a “common heritage”!

CD series, there never was a “Volume 2”), a selection from PAMS stereo efforts for KWEH, WKZQ and WVMI.http://www.4shared.com/file/45230673/5f25c33c/Wixy1360-ClassicPAMS-SomeAdventuresInStereo.html

MemberHey WIXY what a nostalgia-fest. Some cuts in there I haven't heard in a long time PLUS the classic “…bossjocks..play more music..” – I'm STILL looking for a quality dub of that one!!!
Many thanks for this excellent montage Iain – I hope everyone else enjoyed it – great stuff (I like the sign-off too)!

and “in-the-clear”.http://www.4shared.com/file/45494254/e7f5f02a/FromWixy1360-RadioTwo-PAMS-SmartSet.html
NB – this audio will only be on the server for approx 24 hours.

MemberAuthorA mere 24 hours late…but hopefully another PAMS stereo treat… :^)
BBC Radio Two's PAMS composite of 1972 included various cuts (in stereo) from PAMS KULF Houston
custom and KRLD Dallas custom – two excellent MOR packages.http://www.4shared.com/file/45592970/30cc3529/Wixy1360-RadioTwo-PAMS-1972-Composite.html
I'll be happy to be corrected if I'm wrong, but I believe that Radio Two's use of the KULF “grid”-based
package was the ONLY time the PAMS Grid Factory concept has ever been used on a UK station?April 27, 2008 at 9:28 pm #58764Litic
Thankyou wixy – there is not much to beat those old R2 Jingles and to make me feel old

MemberAuthorStrange package Rob – but definately a classic example of “more mp3 artifact
than actual audio”! (sorry! that was just a wee bit cheeky! but you know what I mean :^))Seriously – never heard those before – are you sure they're actually PAMS? (although the
logo reminds me of something that I can't quite latch on to – something says “early ILR”?
…Invicta Sound perhaps?)April 29, 2008 at 1:34 am #58799topcat

Cue TC to explain theseNot much to explain, as best I can tell. While I've never heard these particular cuts before, they were likely produced around 1969. This is when PAMS seemed to be cranking out most of their acappella packages. Jon Wolfert may be able to add to the thread better than me.
However… I will give you some quick examples of PAMS vocal group from this era with some acappellas from WNHC. Comments are always welcome.
April 29, 2008 at 2:08 am #58800topcat
WNHC was original AM/FM/TV. The television was sold off and became WTNH/TV, which it remains to this day. WNHC-FM became Popular 99 around 1972 and changed their calls to WPLR. They had been airing (in mono) a customized KRLA package.
When they went to the new calls, they repurchased the KRLA package from PAMS. The tracks were recut to reflect the new logo and sung/mixed into STEREO. To me, these are just killer. I used to hear these on the air all weekend long when spending summers at the Connecticut shore.
Eventually, WPLR went album oriented rock, which they have remained since the mid/late seventies. My brother gave them a call, asking about the PAMS jingles. They said if they could find them, they'd send him a copy. A week later, the original leadered PAMS master showed up in the mail. Obviously they didn't care about it. We do!
Folks, I present to you, in STEREO, selected cuts from the WPLR PAMS Custom.
