A few points :-
1. Moyles must be doing something right as his figures keep going up – the overall sound created by Music4 and Moyles himself must have something to do with that.
2. As other have mentioned they do keep updating the theme itself – the New York one I know took ages to do and features proper real instruments rather than electronic ones.
3. How many Breakfast shows do we know who’ve had the same couple of jingles for years and years without bothering to change them – you just can’t say that about Moyles – he keeps changing them. During the football the jingles the next day reflected the night’s before scores etc – how many other shows do you know who go to that much effort in the UK. It may happen in the US but they do tend to be syndicated type songs and not always that current.
4. I agree with Chris and Bealey – the familiarity is actually a good thing – the audience does wonder what the next thing will be.
5. As to the lyrics – I had to produce a little song the other day when one of the programmes I was working on came to an end and to make things rhyme and work within the context of the show was not as easy as Moyles makes it look – and I know he spends a long time working on the lyrics with Music 4.
6. I’d much rather have a DJ who likes using jingles and creating new lyrics than one who plays the same one over and over again without thinking they are part of the overall sound.
7. Suppose we will have to wait and see what Moyles does in the New Year as that’s normally when he changes/updates the beds etc.December 8, 2005 at 9:52 pm #26406NickySMemberAuthorA few points :-

I don’t dispute the comments but am personally a bit tired of the track – but then I don’t listen to Moyles so much any more so its not offending me on a daily basis and therefore he is welocme to continue to use them as much as he likes with or without my concent 😯

I think it works really nicely.
It’s a good point Chris makes. It’s a bit like hearing your favourite cut resung for another station and seeing how ingenious they’ve been with the lyrics. All a good bit of fun.
Familiarity IS important for breakfast – and even a non-radio anorak who listens to Moyles would recognise that it’s his theme with slightly differennt lyrics/musical arrangement.
