I was lucky enough to go along to the Chris Moyles session at Abbey Road today (you may have heard him mention it on air). All I can say is listen out for the new opener in January – a full “real” orchestra … and lets just say Chris is probably as much an anorak as the rest of us.
November 29, 2006 at 12:06 am #27902MadYou lucky so and so!
How did you manage to go to that?!

Heard him mention it yesterday and today he played the string section recording which was just sublime. Looking forward to hearing the end result.
November 29, 2006 at 8:00 pm #27908NickySMemberAuthorThe strings are amazing – worth checking it out on Radio Player from this morning – although you won't hear the amazing quality but it'll give you an idea.
December 2, 2006 at 4:05 pm #27920MikeBrownand its all conducted by the bald fella off the honda advert!
January 6, 2007 at 1:53 pm #28320NickySMemberAuthorHave just heard a copy of the final mix of the new Moyles Opener – if you like a sung jingle song then I think you'll like it. It airs first on Monday at 7am … not quite as long as the original Moyles song but it's getting there.
January 6, 2007 at 3:29 pm #28324lozziany chance of a sample
how do you get to hear them?
January 6, 2007 at 4:26 pm #28329NickySMemberAuthorI was only played them – it was because I was at the session when they were recorded. Fraid I don't have a copy to post – but you only have to wait until Monday at 7am … all I will say is it's very catchy as you would expect from Mr Moyles

Just incase you miss it!!

January 9, 2007 at 7:21 pm #28400mbMemberleaves me cold to be honest.
Seems to take the opportunity to make “jingles” cheesy songs – which I've never believed
But its now the tired old line that people who work in radio under the age of 25 always have that jingles are cheesy.January 10, 2007 at 9:49 am #28404LastyMemberI think it's great – good words, really nice tune & arrangement and it does what a jingle should do and stays in your head for a while. Reckon that Chris is a big jingle anorak on the quiet and he's achieved a balance of having a sung jingle that appeals to the Radio 1 target audience but not in a geeky, old-fashioned way. Would be fantastic to hear all the mixes but that's a long-shot!
January 10, 2007 at 7:28 pm #28421NickySMemberAuthorI know for sure there are three different versions of the lyrics. I also know that he used various old opening songs/themes as inspiration as I dug some out for him!
January 10, 2007 at 9:08 pm #28422lozzii love chris moyles
January 10, 2007 at 11:03 pm #28424BealeyMemberEvery time I hear the start of it I keep thinking TV-am or BBC Breakfast Time is back on! Like it though. Congrats Sandy & Co.
