Hi,
Anyone know the package of effects that Capital FM used around 1991 > 1993 with the drones and 'woosh-woosh' fx please?
It was the Hot Rockin' era, with the American guy BJ as station voice (with 'local' sweepers done by Paul McKenna and then Russ Williams).
If anyone knows the package of FX, I'd be most grateful.
If you have the 'clean' quality versions of what was used, I can swap a copy for a copy of the full original cuts of the Capital FM 1992 jingle set (I've a copy straight off the master on DAT I can copy to CD or upload). These jingles include the 'London's weather', 'Day Sounds Great', 'Top 10 @ 10', etc – many cuts didn't make it to air!
Thanks in advance.

July 26, 2009 at 3:33 pm #68725LoveJingles1Don't know about the Brian James FX.
Do know that Capital FM used some of the JR Nelson FX, even after they finished utilising JR as the main jingle voiceover. The FX that he produced for Z100 and played on Capital and many other UK stations such as Rock FM, BRMB and the Superstation have probably not been surpassed.
The FX that were used with Paul McKenna's voice were also excellent. I wondered whether anyone knew if these FX are available anywhere.
July 26, 2009 at 10:10 pm #68731amigoMemberAre these the sweepers in question?

July 27, 2009 at 2:04 am #68732HMG1KWOW, amigo! They're the ones!
Capital took some from the Power Shots CD of the 80s – but they're the ones you've posted up that UI'm after. have you got the JR drones and FX dry?
Thanks
July 27, 2009 at 6:06 am #68735OffshoreOff topic perhaps (late 86, early 87) Capital had an outbreak of stabs, noises, sounders and drones voiced by unknown female and what sounded like Greg Edwards. this was the first incarnation of the Music Power slogan and came before the 87 package. I assume they were produced in house at the Euston Tower. Does anyone know anything about these?
July 27, 2009 at 4:22 pm #68743amigoMemberAre these the ones? I have them from labelled as 1985, but they were probably later.

They are superb, thanks for posting those. I certainly recognise the stabs and effects in there from the cuts the Super Station used.

They certainly sound like them ie the right VO artists and tagline.
What else do you know about them Amigo? Do you have any more stashed away?July 28, 2009 at 3:17 pm #68774amigoMemberre. 1992 sweepers….
No more here unfortunately. I have them listed as JJ McKay. Not sure if that is the voice. The effects are from a Capital DAT marked “Hot FX”.

July 30, 2009 at 10:05 pm #68838LoveJingles1The voice behind the 1992 sweepers is JR Nelson.
July 31, 2009 at 2:17 am #68839amigoMemberHere are some of the Superstation sweepers.

July 31, 2009 at 5:38 pm #68845LoveJingles1Great stuff.
Some JR Nelson there.
Is the other voice Paul Phear – ex-Capital FM and now Magic 105.4 ?
July 31, 2009 at 6:49 pm #68846cubwolfMemberJr Nelson now has his own site which for the life of me i cant seem to find again.
I did however download this demo with the lovely effects onhttp://jinglemad.com/e107_files/public/1249066147_8_FT69189_jr_nelson_collectn_demo_2008.mp3 filename:jr_nelson_collectn_demo_2008.mp3

August 3, 2009 at 10:32 am #68925LoveJingles1VR4 mentions the Power Shots CD of the 80s that Capital used.
Does anyone know what types of FX this CD included ? Did they include some of JR Nelson's stabs and drones or where they a different package ?

The Power Shots CDs (x3) had various beds and fx. They were released by KPM. I don't think any of the fx were by JR Nelson.

There are quite a few FX across the Power Shot CDs Amigo mentions – but not many.
The majority are from JR Nelson.
The ironic thing is the Power Shot CDs are dated in sound now – however the ones Capital picked from those CDs and JR's sound fresher than ever… or should that be “Hotter than ever” in the words of Paul McKenna when he did the station voice on the side before Russ Williams!
Any one got those airchecks of McKenna?
August 11, 2009 at 7:10 pm #69034LoveJingles1Thanks VR4 – Try this thread for loads of Capital stuff:
http://jinglemad.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?48102.poston the 3rd page about 3/4 way down there is a shared file ending “Capital-Sharp.html” – montage of Capital jingles including JR Nelson ID jingles for Chris Tarrant, Mick Brown, David Jensen and Pat Sharp. Also some Brian James and Paul McKenna jingles
I had a look on the KPM website but could not find the Power Cuts CDs in their online library. Anyone know if these CDs can be obtained anywhere ?
August 11, 2009 at 7:35 pm #69035LoveJingles1Sorry, that last post should have read “Power Shots” and not “Power Cuts”
