If you mean these, they are from Pure:

But they don’t have a classic KIIS logo, more the NRJ logo, or did you meant another sonic logo?

No, not these. The new ones don’t repeat capital 3 times. Just Cap-I-Tal in the classic 102.7 Kiss FM notes.

            Hey, Tiger here.
I don’t listen to Capital much often, but I do love the jingles they play on Capital.
            This is interesting.

Recently, Capital came back to Reelworld after many years of using jingles from Pure Jingles.
Capital now uses jingles from the KIIS 2022 package, which was a very cool glow-up from their previous KIIS packages.
            https://soundcloud.com/prodbyjoe/new-capital-uk-tohs-2022

As much as I equally love both Pure Jingles and Reelworld the same way I do for other jingle companies, I think this will cause a lot of divided opinions between anti-RW and pro-RW jingle fans.
But, I think this is the first time a radio station in the UK has ever used a package with the KIIS L.A. logo. (CMIIW)

Also, I think this one is a group resing, while the OG version was a solo, female sing, as heard here.

Thanks TigerQ105. I looked at Reelworld’s facebook page and they have the Capital logo on a late May post, but no link to the demo. I’d love to hear all the cuts.

Yeah, and they haven’t updated their SC page as of now. Maybe, later on, we’ll get to hear some of the cuts and the imaging for Capital soon.

Purely an observation (not a slagging!)…

If these are brand new, well, they sound to my old ears just exactly the same as RW-USA have been
producing for over 20-odd years now, even down to the actual synth logo tones and the vocal style etc.

                  Heck, JAM were slagged for years for being stuck in a “dated” sound;
the same seems to now be very much the same situation with other producers
(although notable exceptions, to their credit, have been frequently discussed on JM).

As for the KIIS logo and the UK…that logo is as old as the hills and certainly the old WLS one
from the 1960s its “derived” from abounds on many now-old ILR station packages
(and even on my Personal Cuts – and I won’t go back and play the 50-year-old 7HO Hobart
stuff I’ve put on JM before!)

Jingles and their styles “evolve” – currently, “evolution” seems to be somewhat static?

I’ll wait for hearing a proper demo before passing any further “critique” though.
                  :)

I’m sure I meant that Capital was one of the first radio stations to use Reelworld’s KIIS package.
Back then, most stations in the UK used other Kiss packages from RW like the Kiss Seattle ’04 package, Kiss Cincinnati package, and the Kiss 108 Boston package.

As radio and the songs they play have evolved over the past few years, so do the jingles they play between the songs.
I think Reelworld influenced the sounds of their jingles from the songs they often play on the radio, a tradition they have been doing for many years.

Can anyone explane to me why Capital claims to be The UK’s Number One Hitmusic Station? They have a market share between 3-4% in London. BBC Radio 1 isn’t CHR but could be seen as one, and has a nationwide share of 5.5% (Rajar).

They used to sing Londons Number One Hitmusic Station in the 90s and 00s (Vibe/Music4 packages) – which I could understand…

The claim “#1 Hit Music Station” are one of the typical slogans CHR stations usually use for their positioning statements. Usually, these claims are substantiated by proof from RAJAR and other evaluated data.

Comparing R1 and Capital side-by-side, around Q1 of this year, Capital London had reached over 12% weekly shares, while R1 had 14% on the RAJAR ratings. So, technically, Capital isn’t really the #1 hit music station they claimed they are. Unless you count all the recent weekly shares from Capital Network’s stations nationwide.

This got me thinking. If Radio 1 is the UK’s biggest hit radio station from the BBC, then I think Capital should be crowned as ‘The UK’s #1 Commercial Hit Music Station’.

Interesting. It’s exactly what Sky Radio in the Netherlands does: they claim to be The Netherlands Number One Non Stop Music Station.

It’s a bit cheap, this way you could claim any indirect #1 position and to be honest, it doesn’t have an emotional appeal to listeners if you ask me.

I could be wrong but Capital is a network of stations?
Combined figures from all the local stations rolled into one.

Technically, yes if you count all the recent RAJAR figures from every Capital station.

Also, to Iain, here’s the sampler from someone who recorded and edited the aircheck.
What do you think about this?
(I have been informed that these are probably the same vocal group singers who did the Heart jingles.)

                                  Thanks :)

I’m not in the station/network’s “target audience” to be fair.

Regarding evolution, I would say the vocals definitely sound different than those in the KIIS packages from the 2000s (not a good difference for my tastes, but then again I’d say the same about the songs played, which have a lot of similar-sounding vocals). The musical differences are more subtle, though I’m sure they still reflect the current musical trends in some way. Overall, they definitely have a formula that they’ve stuck to, which does seem a bit ironic considering they’ve previously pegged Dallas jingles as being formulaic. But it clearly still works for them.

update: It has been a year since Capital used ReelWorld, and I heard on JM that ReelWorld is creating a new custom package for Capital later that year.

And recently in May, they dropped a new one, featuring 12 new themes already on air on Capital. I know that RW might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but IMO, this one is a full-on banger for a CHR package, and I think this fits well as an addition to the KIIS 2022 package that was also used on Capital.
