Pete,
that BRMB cut is taken from The World Of Medium Wave Radio Station cassette. If you checkout page 4 of my montages, there`s some info. on Mike D`Abo.

What I meant was.. that cut (even though featured on the EAP Album)
is good quality (better than my LP copy) and if there are more cuts around please post them!
Oh thanks for the 2 1/2 min montage you also posted a few months back David of some of the other cuts! 😉
I actually always thought they were sang by Blue Mink

Don`t want cause a “kerfuffle” Pete !……… but what I meant was, the cassette/tape version is better quality than the LP record. Having both the tape & LP I can hear the difference. I think whoever posted that cut is just teasing us……..it`s another illusive full package.

PeteD’Abo were a carnation of Mike d’Abo formerly of Manfred Mann and Mike Smith formerly of Sue Manning music, I’ve got a reel to reel tape of their album here. I’ve not listened to it yet.
PS I forgot to add Mike D’Abo composed my favourite advertising jingle of all time….Do you remember, “Only the crumbliest, flakiest chocolate, tastes like chocolate never tasted before.” The one where the woman is in a farmers field and she’s painting a watercolour and it starts to rain. Excuse me I must go and gobble on a flake.

There is a longer version of that, which I have off-air with Les Ross talking all over the begining of it.
I have some other BRMB jingles which could be D’Abo. When I get a day off this week 🙄 I’ll copy it across from my tapes

You can actually hear a version of this on the Commercial section on my site!
Also I managed to get a copy of the song that was released based on this tune, anyone remember it…..”Only The Love” – Graham Stokes……No?
Wasn’t a Hit! lolPete

Pete, my info was that it was Mike D’Abo, I seem to remember an interview he did years ago and it was mentioned, but I’m open to correction on this. The version on your site is the one I’ve got a VHS called AdFab narrated by the late John Peel and it’s well worn. Well must go and get my gums around another flake. 😈

While on the subject of BRMB, can any of you informed people tell me who made the first jingle package for the station and is it available in demo form anywhere? BRMB was the first commercial station I could receive in Coventry(unless you count Capital Radio on 538!)and has some great memories for me, I would love to here those jingles again…..time to dig out those old airchecks as well…..Brian Savin,Robin Valk……Adrian Juste…….ahhhhhh
Thanks guys
Vince

It was GREAT to hear those jingles !!!! – what I would give to have them in high quality.
BRMB in 1975 was what got me wanting to work in radio – it was cemented by Beacon a year later.
Anyone have the E Double D Double O LAN jingles, the Les Ross “early morning sounds” and the BRMB news jingle in good quality?
Great memories

In reply to Vince – the first BRMB package from 74 “the sound way to spend you day” is very easy to obtain.
It didn’t last on air long – before it was replaced by The Mike D’Abo package which had a number of top ups and ran from late 74 or early 75 until 1979 – they are very hard to obtain – and I only have a few cuts.
Mike D’Abo was in a band with Mike Smith at the time – Smith & D’Abo – BRMB played a lot of their stuff especially a single “Free as a Bird”
