Thanks Gents, I’ll give that a go (…AOL uk permitting…)
PS – the Capital cut isn’t Groove – Emison’s Capital launch package 1973. Possibly hinting at only-10-years approx earlier Beatles rather than far later 1990s & 2000s musical blandness?

Blimey, Iain – how did I get that so wrong? A magnificent jingle.
April 7, 2014 at 8:50 pm #94008IainJohnstonYou’re just NOT OLD ENOUGH Geoff !!!
(…some of us heard recordings of it “the first time around” when Capital (and LBC) was still on the “clothes line” transmitter at 538 (?) metres before the “proper” 194m (and 261m) setup was finally built).PS – JMW I think posted it a wee while back as being from his favourite cuts of the era.
April 7, 2014 at 9:28 pm #94012GrahamCollinsI think a few facts are in order:
The Capital Radio ‘yeah, yeah, yeah’ cut referred to is from their launch package recorded in September 1973. The cut was written by Cook & Greenaway, performed by the band Blue Mink with the strings orchestrated by George Martin no less. Capital Radio production staff labeled the cart LAID BACK 25″

And just to top-up Geoff’s original Los Angeles KNX-FM, from deep in my old posts these are the BBC Radio One resings.
May 3, 2014 at 3:54 pm #94231IainJohnstonAnd a further top-up, from KenR CD CW-60, WVTS FM, with some better harmonies than on the original custom perhaps, and in stereo.

Comment:-
Just like a number of the stereo “Ref Copies” from that era, or at least the KenR-released CDs, there’s a “something not right in the mix” to do with levels, in this case the strings seem a bit “low” compared with mono resings for other stations.May 3, 2014 at 4:54 pm #94234ratnobMemberAuthorAll hippies, flower-power, cowbells, and … well, whatever…
Fascinating to hear all the resings – thanks, IJ.

An account of mis-hearing a Dick Hamilton jingle:
http://www.bobdinan.co.uk/Blog/Jingle_Podcast/Entries/2014/5/7_Shame.htmlMay 9, 2014 at 9:23 am #94323LenGroatI always thought ‘Naturally’ was made to try and match the early 70s Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins. Crosby Still and Nash music? It was a brave diversion, and I LOVED the ‘duet’ cut at 1.07 on the Radio 1 set – it was just so melodic, but the WVTS just don’t work, too crammed and very strange vocals.

Same here. I hate a lot of it, but I forgive that because of the bits I like.
May 10, 2014 at 2:32 am #94343loujosephsre KVIL..it’s big bad lettered..K V I L…we were playing the name the call letters as that’s what people wrote down in the diary era. The IBC version was great to hack thou, which is how WRMF got it’s version in the day at 1060. Heller stuff was so easy to hack if you were already a heller client as a lot of the jingles had the same breaks in them and all you had to do was four track it. Did the same thing with not just a feeling from the WZZD Package..as I had the original long song plus the strange Al Jazzbo Collins cuts which never aired. Way too much information.
re: KNX FM that idea later became the first awful softrock package that came out of peters productions in San Diego..The first salesperson for groove did the creative for that version of knx fm.
And the knx fm and later weei fm pams jingles lead to…the magic package…from JAM.
For that we can thank Dave Khlar who also gave us WYNY…And how’s this…N…PR…Lee Masters from W NbC using his real name is now the new head of US National Public Radio…he was at WNBC when Clear Channel CEO Bob Pittman was the PD..
