GW, I had to stop listening by about halfway through
– if that’s what someone the other day meant by “Frankenstein jingles“…
…chopped up into bits (from demos and other stations) and bolted back together…Lets just say, that just because something got put up on TooYube by someone, doesn’t mean its any good…

I wonder what possessed the station to butcher those JAM jingles…Not paying for Jingles?

I am the same as you , could not listen all the way through but would call them Frankenstein Jingles
September 12, 2021 at 1:40 pm #106507IainJohnstonMy first encounter with “Frankenstein jingles” was long ago when a reel came in from WLBK DeKalb (Michigan maybe?),
and the guy on the tape admitted that “they stole jingles from other stations” and edited them on to their acapella(s)!THE classic case of course was the original Radio Caroline after their “proper ones” were replaced by all those
SRE rip-offs etc etc, and later ghastly “Station With The Happy Difference” cut-and-shut stuff!September 12, 2021 at 3:42 pm #106508firetypecinderaceMemberSo they’re more of a “frankenstein” jingles than rip offs or are they the same thing?
Oh, and WLBK’s in Dekalb, Illinois.

When I started this thread 17 years ago ?
“Rip Offs” referred to Jingle companies who actually ripped off other Jingle Companies music track (or at least ideas) to create their own Jingle…..
“Frankenstein” Jingles are just pirated jingles that have been edited together to form another Jingle……..
I was a big dabbler in this “Black Art” back in my Hospital Radio Days! ?September 12, 2021 at 4:52 pm #106510IainJohnston“Oh, and WLBK’s in Dekalb, Illinois”
Well, I WAS quoting from memory – it was a bluddy long time ago!
I didn’t expect that the station might still exist today, so I didn’t bother to Gurgle it.
And I long ago binned the tape.September 12, 2021 at 6:02 pm #106511GrahamCollinsMany jingles were ‘cut n shut’ from PAMS demos to be generic for airing on Radio 1 back in the late 60s. I’m not sure if Bill Meeks was ever aware – no live streaming then ! There are rumours that a certain Mr Maurice Cole was the skilled razor blader.
