August 27, 2010 at 7:04 pm #75295DavidHemsleyI think it's quite possible most of you will not have heard this:
Last year, Radio Veronica (Italy) were pitching for jingles to various companies – they were actually looking for a company that would ding over some tracks they had produced . . . but as you can here on this, they are clear rip-off's of the Sky Radio JAM package.
The vocals on the tracks, solo girl, was just in-house for lyric demo purposes.
Happily, no one took veronica up on their project.
The original JAM jingles are included for comparison.

I've never met Sandy Beech but I suspect that tape has 'back-fired' on him. As has been observed the jingles at the end are just not as good as the JAM ones, and in 10 years time 'radio people' will still be speaking in hallowed terms about JAM long after this parody has been forgotten.I'm afraid I find the Chris Moyles 'Cheesey song' distasteful, and it is GROSSLY over-long, and over-played; I might wonder WHO is getting the PRS payments for it !? It represents all that is common about British Radio, there is no CLASS anymore. It might be okay for a small Northern station (are there any left?) but BBC Radio 1? I don't think so….
And for those who knock Dallas vocals, and 'Dallas style' jingles ~ watch out in September!! I'll say no more….

Thanks for posting these David, never heard them before…I still find it amazing that even in these days of copyright infringement, legal issues etc..that some people will try and “rip off” the sound of other jingle companies. These jingles you have posted are just soooooooooo obvious cloning of JAM jingles, it`s incredible ! – have you heard the Solecson (based in Canada) jingles I posted earlier in this thread (?) same thing there…

Although we've tread this path before…there's an (in)famous building in Scotland called “the Disgrace of Edinburgh” – an 18th century attempt to “clone” the Parthenon in Greece – but was too cheapo and stands unfinished to this day.
Another “disgrace of Edinburgh” is the very cheapo, unfinished-sounding blatant “clones” of JAM Q-cuts etc done in 1991 by (then) Radio Forth's in-house “home brew” jingle contractor for their “RFM” service. There were some cuts for their then “Max-AM” service which also might stir vague feelings of “deja-vu”.
Mr J.W. of Dallas, Texas, would clearly recognise the following near note-by-note and instrument-by-instrument (*cough*) “tribute” versions of his work!)
http://jinglemad.com/e107_files/public/1283113118_75_FT2078_forthjamclones.mp3 filename:forthjamclones.mp3
(Ironically, not long after, “RFM” changed name to “Forth FM” – and bought “LA's Best Music” cuts from TM Century, which even more ironically, didn't “work” so well on-air as even the JAM-soundalikes had done!)
August 30, 2010 at 3:01 am #75310dianablanton1984MemberBleeech! This is one of those “rip-off” jingles I would NOT hear frequently on my portable audio player. I prefer true original jingles, everyone!!!
August 30, 2010 at 6:00 pm #75314bobgreenradioMembercome on now. lets be fair. since the death of the 20 second singing jingle for radio formats; the 3 second shout has taken front stage. how the hell many ways can you shout 'moooooore muuuuuzik', or 'hooot hitttzzzz'?
acapellas? i like good vanilla ice cream. these things are awful 'vanilla' image logos.credit goes to realworld for energy, and the real pams for being very creative. the rest? all the same old same old. ripoffs? sure. just like those radio contests, news formats, copy structures, and on and on.
radio has become dull (not as bad as tv however) lately because the only daypart that groupownership schmucks bother with is morning drive. the rest of the day is off a dish with NO PERSONALITY. let alone great jingles.

I can only presume absolutely NO ONE on Jinglemad heard these stations today !?
September 6, 2010 at 8:39 pm #75396IainJohnstonMemberEr, Len – you'll have to put us all out of our misery – I think your “teaser” on the “Golden Day” bit has maybe been just a wee bit TOO subtle!!!…I don't know if anyone has a clue what you actually are referring to or where/what stations??? (…or is it anything to do with a particular radio “pressure group” event that was apparently to launch today (x-ref Digital Spy / Radio Forum???)
(Or maybe you should have made it a “New Thread” rather than it perhaps being “buried” down on this one?)
September 8, 2010 at 10:26 am #75422LenGroat“Len – you'll have to put us all out of our misery.. “
I will do… it's been 'delayed' slightly but will happen soon in September…
Sorry I diverted the thread, any way of 'spiltting-off posts' to new topics? ?

I actually quite liked Forth's JAM clones…. perhaps I must have been the only one who did like them! The TM Century package was also a favourite of mine.
If ever there was an online equivalent of Room 101 I'd like to nominate another “Disgrace of Edinburgh“, the song clones used by Sound House for Forth's Greatest Memories, Latest Hits package in 1988. Compared to what Sound House had done before with the predecessor packages (“News & Information Station”, “Hit Music Radio” and “Great Music Radio”), the song clones gave me the impression that Sound House had run out of ideas midway through recording the package. Which was a pity…
September 17, 2010 at 5:04 pm #75490GlennaMemberI wonder who gets their jingles cloned more JAM,TM OR rw.
September 11, 2021 at 6:36 am #106516firetypecinderaceMemberDo some of the jingles here count as rip-offs? They’re not mine. It’s from youtube.

That’s the problem when someone digs up and old thread from years ago as the audio is no longer saved on Jinglemad none of the good audio is available!
September 11, 2021 at 1:53 pm #106498firetypecinderaceMemberSome of the jingles are thompson creative jingles. And, I know this post is old.
September 11, 2021 at 1:54 pm #106499IainJohnstonCall letters starting with DW.. are philapinnes???
Wheres my world radio tvhandbook 1999 edition……..
Edit
A lot of us members of JM are bit old tooSeptember 11, 2021 at 6:08 pm #106500firetypecinderaceMemberYes, DW-DZ are the starting call letters for the Philippines. DW and DZ for the whole Luzon island, DY for Visayas, plus Masbate and Palawan, DX for Mindanao.
September 11, 2021 at 6:09 pm #13160firetypecinderaceMemberSince, this is based in Cebu City, and it’s in Visayas, the starting call letters for that station starts with a DY.
September 11, 2021 at 6:43 pm #13149gameswizardMemberRegarding the video up above:
I wonder what possessed the station to butcher those JAM jingles… -
