Ben Freedman – better news 21 July

I've just seen on Facebook that Bob Taylor has posted that Ben Freedman has suffered a Heart Attack and Stroke . . . .

Not confirmed . . . . does anyone know anything?

Ben is one of the longest serving people in the jingle business and probably the hardest jingle worker there is.

If this is true – I hope her recovers quickly

Well this is the latest from Bob Taylor:

“Ben did have a heart attack and stroke on Sunday morning and has just recently come off a ventillator and is awake and alert. Some lack of feeling on one side and some short term memory issues (likely from the meds) Thats all I know right now. So he dodged a bullet it seems.”

I was waiting for something from Ben.But both a heart attack and a stroke !!! Bloody hell,that's terrifying.

The most important thing now is lots of rest.

mr ben has been the ONLY one always there to assist us, no matter the size (meaning smallness) of our needs, yet he made us feel it was a big event…thats class!…we all know he wont, cant rest! haha, i bet the moment hes out he will be mixing within minutes!

Ben works far too hard – I was speaking to one of the singers before the new year, he said that as far as re-sings go, Ben has been the one giving them the most work in 2009 . . . and I can see why, his Dallas vocal group is as good as anyone elses

I can echo that Ben really does work far too hard – the sheer time, effort and attention he gives to even the smallest order is incredible, as is his generosity.

So best wishes to him for a speedy recovery :^)

I spoke to Ben's wife today. He is still in the hospital and he is doing okay. He does need bypass surgery. As soon as he is strong enough they will do the surgery and then of course rehab & physical therapy.

as bad as that all sounds…i guess we can say “GREAT!”. sure it sucks, but, then, we know he'll be fine when all is done. ummm….after the operation, maybe we could, as a group, take a collection for some hair plugs as our “weccome back” big guy??
j/k! as long as hes fixed up and back to normal!

update on mr ben. i just heard from bens son, and ben is doing better each day! the by pass is put off for awhile. its now lots of rest and care.
im quite pleased hes recovery is going well

ben is back at it! he was kicked free from the hospital and is home and at work again. no word if the hair plugs “took” or not! actually, i suspect the hospital crew was glad to see him leave! after all…1 jingle riff after another, after another, after another would tend to drag on the staff if they didnt have a love for the art. so its great to have ben back!

Having seen the unbelievable amount of time & effort Ben put into what was a miniscule order for me, I think the real reason Ben took ill was BECAUSE he worked FAR TOO HARD!

I hope he takes his time to recuperate, and sits back and lets someone do the real day-to-day grind on his behalf, and maybe takes a more “consultative” role, i.e. still keeping in touch every day with the studio and the business that he has loved for so many years – he won't be the first well-known jingle “name” to have overdone it a bit, so keep getting better Ben, and remember one's health is far more important than money.
