How superb! Thanks so much for posting that – what excellent audio. You've brought back a fair few memories there. I'll get some of my NW/Midlands airchecks out of the loft next time I'm in Cheshire.
Thanks again – loved it!

Has anyone got Beacon's news intro of the time totally dry?

It was a very good package…a complete reworking of the Wiltshire Radio 1982 package and (in my own opinion) much better than the WR set. I especially like the main station theme!

Great news jingle they were using!I 'Think' the David Arnold package lasted until the end of 1986/early 1987 when it was replaced by Alfasound, likewise Severn Sound's Cath Baxter package lasted about another twelve months when the station changed FM frequency to 102.4.
Around the off-air montage period of late 1985…Severn Sound became a twenty-four hour station and had a couple of idents from Cath Baxter singing '24 Hours a day'. I'm not sure whether they were part of the original package or a top-up.
