Hi folks. Whilst trying to retune my car stereo yesterday morning, I came across BBC Solent on AM and nearly fell off my seat when through the static came a sung jingle!!!

Any idea who does these? Must get around to listening to the station on the Internet or on Sunday when I'm in Portsmouth.

Wicked Music Production – it is a shared package with BBC Radio Bristol, BBC Radio Leicester and BBC Hereford & Worcester.

Only heard instrumentals on listen again. Done the unsual Google search with no trace … David Arnold did the previous jingles, an update of the old LBC launch package (I think ?) … I did read news that S2Blue were creating a package for a BBC local station @ this time, could be Solent ?

Ohhh I just read the above post … I like the work they did for Leicester, is it a resing of that ? Possibly not as so close to Bristols area … I'll have a listen.

It's not an exact resing of the work they did for Leicester, but there are quite a few cuts in all the packages which are the same except from the vocals – in other words, the packages are shared but the cuts are slightly different.

Ahh thats cool, I heard a couple via BBC iPlayer, there are similarities. The hour opener sounded a little weak on the vocals, otherwise good stuff.

                  Hello, just a quick clarification.

BBC Radio Leicester and BBC Radio Bristol do indeed share a package, however both BBC Radio Solent's and BBC Hereford & Worcester's jingle packages are unique.

All three packages were produced by Wicked Music Production, therefore there will be some similarity in style.

                  All the best,
                  Chris.

“Wicked” ! lol, thanks Chris. The singers have a good sound overall. Now … Drop a hint to BBC Radio Norfolk. Time to update :o)

Just as a link in to the discussion above, I've been listening to Radio Jersey and their news in is the LBC cut that Solent used to use…

Just wondering whether it's something that's being used across the south,as I'd have thought they would have run with some of the David Lowe regional stuff?

Could this be the s2blue mystery production?

Ohhh I've always loved Chris's hints. The S2Blue sound would work in Norfolk. Infact when I was sitting @ work daydreaming possible packages that would suit BBC Radio Norfolk, I kept imagine-singing their station name to the exisiting BBC Radio Cornwall package also by S2Blue …

However, if Essex, Suffolk & numerous BBC locals can get custom packages of their own, I'm sure our BBC regional base here in the East can manage a package of their own.

We shall see … or more likely hear :)

Re: what Dave was saying I can never find imaging when I try on Jerseys listen again. As for using the LBC stuff, perhaps they've picked up the package now. I have a feeling … That Jersey & Guernsey fall into the BBC South West region ? Not the South / South East as Solent does ?

Jersey or Guernsey (cant recall which) did used to air the BBC Devon news intro in use @ the time until recent years. In regional and local programmes.

Anyway Jersey I know nothing about, Chris perhaps might be kind enough to drop a hint ? Guernsey had the BBC Cornwall package for a time & now have dropped the “Radio” bit and had the BBC Essex package resung as BBC Guernsey … Imaging is nice & fresh in the islands therefore :)

Does anyone have the BBC Hereford and Worcester from Wicked Music Production? There is only one cut on their website

The cut on the website is from the old package. I have recorded a couple of jingles from the online live stream (I can't receive it where I live)…

It sounds like Solent had not long gotten rid of the LBC news jingle (remembering this thread has been dormant for a year of course!) Did they use other cuts from that package? I remember nearly crashing the car on the way to Bournemouth in 1997 hearing the stentorian tomes od Mr Arnold's finest work!

Was this really only last year??? Seems so long ago since I last saw this!

I've noticed BBC Norfolk are now using sung jingles, as may have been hinted in previous posts in this thread.

Any idea Fred who BBC Norfolk went too for their sung cuts ? I notice you named the station without the word radio so presumably they have dropped the word as per new policy ? :)

Haven't got a clue who they've gone to. They're still using the 'Radio' word in their name; I've only missed it because I'm slightly lazy.

I've had a listen & I'm a little bewildered as to where these cuts have come from, however the logo used on the news cuts is almost the same as “BBC Hereford & Worcester” so I'm hazarding a guess that it's the same company :)
