Rumours were that London had rejected the new imaging…..
What has changed ?
August 1, 2020 at 7:20 pm #105225simon_t123MemberI thought London just didn’t want the sung versions ? That said … The instrumental versions, particularly the endings are weak without any additional instrumentation. Examples in the East & on Essex that are not sung have a slightly awkward ending to them when used in instrumental style … London would sound great sung in my humble ‘ol opinon …

August 1, 2020 at 10:56 pm #105227mbMemberDecisions, strategy, imaging, programming and how some people keep thier jobs at BBC Radio London baffle me. David Robey must know where all the bodies are as nothing touches him. It’s a crackpot tinpot outpost of independence.
It has less than 1% Market share. And is often one of the least professional sounding BBC Local stations.August 1, 2020 at 10:59 pm #105228mbMemberI can’t see anything appearing soon. The new stuff is being closely guarded by the BBC who have been told by Reelworld under no circumstances to ‘distribute it’
sometimes you wonder what goes on in peoples heads August 2, 2020 at 1:47 am #105229glenWhat are they trying to hide?

Still not as good as when LOCAL Radio could pick and choose what Jingles they could have! 😉August 4, 2020 at 7:41 pm #105235GrahamCollinsI rather like the Reelworld material. There are enough elements to cater for all that BBC Local Radio requires. Production staff can be creative in how they put the pieces together.
I am peeved that London choose to be awkward and think that this is beneath them.
I have always wanted the BBC locals to sound the same, within a certain framework. The smaller stations raise their game. The programmes are becoming similar for different day parts across the network so why not the imaging too ?
August 7, 2020 at 12:30 am #105239JasonRNFReelworld were told by Radio London that they didn’t want any sung vocals, although they were recorded ‘just in case’. They appear to be sharing a male voiceover with 3CR.
We’re into August now and the only London Reelworld stuff is used at 6 AM for news headlines. Then straight back into Mcasso and those terrible On The Sly beds
August 8, 2020 at 4:12 pm #105240simon_t123Member… ironically they use Reelworld for the overnight shows on 5Live & all the locals that’s produced IN London … many of the instrumentals I’ve caught on here have awkward endings, like they really need to be sung or have some exra layer of intrumental logo … Jon Wolfert @ JAM once replied to an enquiry I made for a cut that it wouldn’t work well open backed so suggested a small synth logo tweak to the end, this is what Reelworld cut would need to work effectively in London …
Remember London were the only station in the locals network to have their own custom Mcasso logo as well, I’m told that compared to other stations London has a budget comparable to a national station ! Yes performs so poorly in exchange … I like the quip that Robey must know where all the bodies are
Maybe it’s a because London has such a crowded market, the possible share is so much lower, then again there are few stations if any offering a full service format …
December 7, 2020 at 5:32 pm #105625dw1987ukMemberBBC Radio London has finally switched this morning! No sung jingles apart from the “B.B.C.”
BBC Essex has been using a Christmassy-tweaked set since 1st Dec. Not sure about other stations.
December 7, 2020 at 9:09 pm #105624AnonymousNorfolk, Berkshire and York are using the Christmas cuts.
December 8, 2020 at 12:38 am #105623JasonRNFRadio London seems to have an entirely custom made, vocal led package. Anna Foster is the main voiceover, some other chap doing the rest. Alex James still on the news ID? What’s with the child saying ‘Play BBC Radio London’?
At least those terrible ‘On the sly’ cuts have vanished – that was some of the worst imaging I’ve ever heard.December 9, 2020 at 2:37 am #105618JustinSaysRadioJasonRNF;c-75032 wrote:Radio London seems to have an entirely custom made, vocal led package. October 5, 2021 at 7:40 am #106588star tetleyNot sure if the new versions were made originally or have been done more recently? There is a sung ‘Make a difference’ cut which couldn’t have been done at the start as that feature only started when the pandemic hit.
October 5, 2021 at 9:44 am #106589AnonymousThere were a few updates back in July where it consisted of 4 new core themes and a sport bed. They sound ok, but the sport theme is like an epileptic rave.
The demo is on Reelworld Europe’s SoundCloud page.
