3CR imaging has been dreadful for years they have a talent for hacking imaging and using it badly.

Maybe the East is getting ready to go Reelworld :) Essex have been using Reelworld beds in their local early evening show for a little while now, nothing sung …

I wouldn’t say that at all. The only really poor stuff from 3CR I’ve heard in recent times has to be the awful voiceovers from December 2018. Since mid-2019, the imaging has been pretty decent. However, the trails are horrendous at the moment.

I’m predicting Eastern Counties start going Reelworld very soon. Northampton first?

Not all stations are having sung cuts, they should all have the same news, weather and travel

London are bound to do something different, and I doubt theirs will be sung.

BBC Radio London still has the same old music 4 package which is well past its sell by date and I hope when they finally get round to re fresh they do have some sung jingles nothing worse than the current Voice Over with the presenters name tagged on at the end

Wow. If you think Sussex/Surrey is bad, take a listen to Humberside. News intro is a complete disaster.

Humberside uses the same elements as Surrey and Sussex. Sounds fine to me. The whole top of hour build sequence is pre-assembled so it shouldn’t go wrong. The file even helpfully says fire at 59’43”

I was talking about the voiceover timing. A complete mess – It takes an age for her to say ‘The sound of Northern Lincolnshire… and East Yorkshire …is’.

Three Counties Radio is sung now, that’s quite a gobfull :) Checking around all stations via BBC Sounds there’s more stations with Reelworld than without now by the sounds of it, some interesting twists on sings & adaptations, and interesting use of local VO’s where I’ve heard them … Devon, Humberside, Wiltshire, 3CR, Shropshire are all stations I’ve noticed have picked up the package …

That’s right, 25 out of 40 now on the new jingles, with another name change today as BBC Somerset becomes BBC Radio Somerset.

I think the sung jingles work best with two-syllable names, eg Leicester, Bristol, Devon, Surrey etc.

Yes going live this morning with the new jingles are Stoke, Three Counties Radio, Northampton, Gloucester, Bristol, York and Somerset.

                                  Probably Cambridgeshire.

Starting this week, the BBC Essex output of the joint eastern region late show is using the new jingles, but the rest of BBC Essex is still using Macasso.

As expected, they’re still calling it BBC Essex without the “Radio”. Also the jingles aren’t sung which is surprising – I’d have thought they’d have managed a “B…B…C Eeeeeeseeeex”.

Sung jingles are either still being worked on or aren’t being used on the station. 3CR/Northampton were still using spoken Reelworld up until Sunday.

Kent I would have thought. They like to think themselves as some sort of Radio 4 for Kent. They won’t like the Pips being axed, they also like to have the presenter read out the station tagline before the news. Maybe Reelworld will kick them out of 1995 and into 2020.

They are just for the regional shows – it will be different when they start using the package.

BBC WM have changed their FB logo to BBC Radio WM just now, whether that relates to a name change / jingles I’m not sure … With the Reelworld cuts WM fits better than Radio WM to me ! It’s Monday, let’s see if anything audio’s changed :)

I’m not so keen on the WM versions, the vocals of WM sound rushed, Yes its two letters 1 syllable, the ‘local’ voice saying ‘Play BBC Radio WM’ doesn’t sound very local, they chose the best spoken brummie there is for that. Local would be “Play BBC Rairdioo WM”. Perhaps WM should have changed its name… to fit the jingles, but to what?
