Been reading the various comments about things being a bit quiet again,
people wanting but not giving, montages without overlapping, Dave’s
big “Jam in the UK” with spaces between cuts, etc etc etc….So perhaps we do need to let a few more unheard bits & pieces out to
the world, “in-the-clear” even, to freshen up our slightly-jaded ears!…So here’s a fresh thread, of “Something to Share”, starting with a little
something from a Minidisk recorded for me 😉 by the station a few
years ago…http://www.filelodge.com/files/room17/423254/wixy1360/Wixy1360-s2s-DuneFM-LinersMisc.MP3
I hope that this link actually works ! Advice appreciated if there’s any
problems with it!Hopefully more original material from my collection to follow!

May 23, 2006 at 7:04 pm #20988IainJohnstonMemberAuthorThe FileLodge links seem to work OK, so here’s an extract from an
original station-recorded cassette (its even got the red “MMI” labels)…http://www.filelodge.com/files/room17/423254/wixy1360/Wixy1360-s2s-BuzzFM-TheRoskoBits.MP3
(Apologies for the tape hiss!)

Another of my original station-recorded items, on minidisk, but
unfortunately they did it in heavily overlapped montage form 😥
(I’d really like to have had this “in the clear” if anyone has it as
a package of cuts? (I have it also as Steve England’s demo).
May 25, 2006 at 1:23 pm #21019BigdaveCan’t remember if I’ve posted these before,but…

Here’s some 1982 Radio Hallam cuts from the carts and the demo of Hallamland from Sue Manning.
June 3, 2006 at 8:01 pm #21151IainJohnstonMemberAuthorAs mentioned on the “JAM in the UK” thread, etc, here’s 11 & 1/2
minutes of … of … well, lets say demos were different in the early 70’shttp://www.filelodge.com/files/room17/423254/wixy1360/Wixy1360-s2s-EMISON-1stYear.MP3
This is as-it-sounds on the actual cassette (x-ref Pete W’s picture of
an EMISON label), warts & all (those with sensitive lugholes will detect
the slight “pops” where an obviously slightly magnetised blade was
used when they spliced the reel-to-reel tape together (sometimes
VERY badly spliced as well).(For the younger members of JM – before PCs and £20 digital editing
software were invented – tapes were edited using soft china pencils,
narrow splicing tape (NOT sellotape!), cutters/razor blades, metal blocks
with 1/4-inch grooves, and very patient people with good ears!)An interesting(?) wee bit of EMISON history.
(If any downloading problems, please let me know)

Thanks for that Iain…..
Haven’t heard that one before!
They even had Ray Moore as the Narrator.
Yes a bit strange but 1974/5 was a bit weird anyway!June 3, 2006 at 8:31 pm #21154IainJohnstonMemberAuthorpetewilson wrote:

Yes a bit strange but 1974/5 was a bit weird anyway! Thanks Pete! – now you know why I was wondering on my earlier
post if anyone actually had a non-weird / non-badly-edited version of the
thing! Now, I wonder what else can I dig out of the old tape & cassette cupboard 😉

January 16, 2007 at 9:02 pm #28547mbMemberI've got them too, apart from a couple of tracks where i think the tape was damaged. If they are from the same set they were recorded from the Masters at Trent. They sound Fantastic.
I'm happy to share – I've posted a cut but cos of the potential hit of downloads haven't put the whole package up but happy to help if I can.
http://www.c1hundred.co.uk/RT1978.mp3
Its all pretty much Studio quality.
