Found this on the dave langer website .
Maurice Taggart is a DJ who lives in Northern Ireland
and has worked on various commercial stations.
Maurice wanted a custom jingle that was really a song.
Here is a copy of Maurice's brief:-“I want the jingle to give people a good feel effect, a nice warm feeling.
When you’re watching a singer on the television and you know the song, and you’re waiting for that moment, of the main lyrics, were it builds to a crescendo of noise, when the singer hits that top note, and the music builds up to meet the singers top note.
You can feel your cheeks going red, your insides getting excited with the song and the music. The singer nails it !
That's what I would like to achieve with this jingle !
That moment when the hairs on the back of the neck stick up, that anticipation of that moment where it lifts your spirit and makes you smile.
I want people when listening to the jingle to have all of those experiences “THE GOOD FEEL FACTOR”.
It would be lovely for someone to even remember the jingle and even mention to their friends about it, to me that would be the major accolade for the jingle and the show.
Hope that explains what I want from the jingle !”
Listen to it on the website … It has all the tricks used by Sandy ,Richard and Moyles …I know what I think of it….
Can you imagine hospital radio presenters with just one 30 sec jingle… it would get played four times an hour ….
July 25, 2009 at 2:38 pm #68691RobinBlamiresOooh dear.
The more cynical on this site could say it's payback for Moyles's JAM rip offs, but I think that the Dave Langer example is sacrilege.
Certainly not “brand new” but a lot worse than just a “cheesy song”.
I'd love to have found that example before seeing Sandy in Nottingham last month although he'll find out sooner or later…

go to “whats new” on the left side ..click and then go to the top RH side click Maurice Taggart
just some of the lyrics :
Are you fed up with too many ads, too many songs played back to back
Shows too fast ..too laid backThe shows got creativity, originality, and a fresh approach
Enjoy the Maurice Taggert Show
Enjoy the Maurice taggert ShowIt has the line with the word “Canteen” and the singer only just hits a note near the end ….Jingles I love them..
It sounds like its from the pen of comedy Dave !
I could see Moyles play it live on air and sing over “Chris Moyles “
July 25, 2009 at 6:14 pm #68697LenGroatoh Dear….
Chris Moyles MILE HIGH EGO, six inch talent, and awful pastiche song… has a LOT to answer for
Gone are the days when my 'role models' were superb broadcasters like Noel Edmonds and Alan Freeman…
July 25, 2009 at 6:19 pm #68698RobinBlamiresYes they are gone but some people can live with that and move on…
Or be constructive at least.
Moyles is aimed at 16-24 year olds and whilst he may not please everyone within the demographic he gets the high listening figures that are close to beating Wogan.
That's factual information.
I wouldn't force it on people as gospel but for me he's one of the few people in radio I will make the effort to listen to these days and oddly enough even Noel himself and Fluff (RIP) have been very supportive of the man I'll have you know.
And his contribution to jingles in the UK cannot be beaten as the effort from himself, Sandy, Roger etc at Music 4 can be heard clearly, unlike the shallow imitation from Dave Langer.
Radio moves on, not always for the better but those who stand out were influenced by the best whether it would be Fluff, Kenny Everett, John Peel or many others.
It just saddens me that someone who made some of the best jingles on UK Radio just slates anything that isn't from Dallas unfairly, and having spoken to people from Wise Buddah, Music 4 etc they do read the comments made on the site and seemed heartbroken when referring to the said posts, as they really do have faith in their products and it pays off when played on air.
I do go on don't I.
But there are positive parts which I aim to look out for in almost anything radio related, regardless of how hard it is.
Best of all though, Moyles still spins the old JAM jingles on Radio 1 whenever he does the Golden Hour!
July 25, 2009 at 7:18 pm #68701barrydavidallanbdaThe jingles Moyles uses on his daily show …yes are Jam rip offs .. but I find them the best jingles and the best vocals sandy's company makes ..and maybe he needs to build a “Jam style ” jingle for other stations with perfect quality vocals … I know he can do it…
Jam jingles are word perfect .. yet todays Jingle companies are not.. their vocals hit a near note … look at Radio 2 jingles ..people who collect them still love the “feel of the jingle”..and they could be 15 or 20 years old.. I cant say I will want to listen to a Radio 2 package used today … in many years time ………… Jingle companies have this idea in their head that a jingle should sound like a song from the core music …so the standard of jingles has gone down hill…With Moyles looking back and picking up on the music styles of Jam (and Pams) we are now getting USA quality cuts on air from a UK company
But Robin you said :Best of all though, Moyles still spins the old JAM jingles on Radio 1 whenever he does the Golden Hour!
I see radio 1 is using a student voiceover to say This is Radio 1 … isnt that going down in station quality .. I havnt listened to the student voice but lets say You had a choice … use a quality voiceover (like the deep rich golden hour jingles ) or You had the use of Comedy Dave (sorry dave just making a point) ..Which voice sells the station…..
July 25, 2009 at 7:42 pm #68702IainJohnstonMember“Jingle companies have this idea in their head that a jingle should sound like a song from the core music …so the standard of jingles has gone down hill”
If thats indeed the case, its because of the intrinsic “quality” of today's “popular music”(?) has certainly gone a long way down hill – because in the early 1970s a considerable amount of very successful TM Productions jingles (in particular) “leaned” towards the “core music” of the era (OK, were Tom Merriman blatantly but subtly “adapting” the melodies & styles) – but that music was probably far more varied both in content and in the demographics of the people & especially age-groups who bought “singles” then.
:^)July 25, 2009 at 9:42 pm #68705barrydavidallanbdaBut on this forum we all love the Classic style JaM ,Pam, Tm jingles … …every time we hear a Jam,Pams ,Tm we find a new bit tucked away ..because these cuts had so much going on..
These cuts could give underscore parts and its easy to get different jingle every time…
And they gave you the choice of 5 or 7 part singing… studio or dallas.. with todays jingles the vocals can be a lower grade than the studio singers ! and there is very little going on in the mix..its just a drum machine.. and reverbI go back to the thread Moyles Jingles Via Music 4 are better than normal station jingles from music 4 because they use the style and vocals used By Jam for more than 20 years

Thanks for your various comments. I've just made the point in another post that this site is in danger of becoming a 'Jingle Museum', so your comment:
having spoken to people from Wise Buddah, Music 4 etc they do read the comments made on the site and seemed heartbroken when referring to the said posts, as they really do have faith in their products…
.. is very relevant.
Most of the contributors here are 'fans' or 'anoraks' if you prefer, but as 'non professionals' at best can be the the conscience of these companies.
You say they are 'heartbroken' at some comments made?
I wonder?
Do they REALLY go home at the end of the day thinking a package of 'themes' in which every cut has the same lyric, which has synthetic drums, and a few girl singers not even in unison, is an ACHIEVEMENT?
I believe both they AND the people at the radio stations, are SCARED or just do not know HOW to put any HUMANITY into their work, any warmth. And those are the ingredients that made the much discussed KOST jingles by JAM such a hot topic these last few days.
The Chris Moyles pastiche song was both a homage to JAM and a p**s take: the impression many people have is that he'd far sooner be USING real JAM jingles, than the lack lustre material they station provide now. At least he has the old JAM material to use occasionally ~ but think of the many local commercial stations which have 6-18 hours of automated voice tracking output where the presenters have NO say in the jingles as they are part of a massive group. It is mainly THOSE stations the companies you defend work for.
Commercial radio was founded in one of the most difficult financial times in Britain, but even so every station had a newsroom, all local output, and they were IN their broadcast area.. you know what I'm saying. Our British commercial radio industry has been allowed to amalgamate and shrink until the CHOICE and LOCALNESS has gone. Finances are being used as an excuse to reduce staffing/coverage, to cover problems caused by poor management and boardroom greed.
This point might be outside the parameters of a 'jingle' site, but it is 100% the reason why jingles as an 'art form' are dying – money.
I'll end my rant there, AND take a break from posting, to make way for you 'younger ones', it's YOUR radio that is being affected, not mine, I was lucky enough to be in it during some GREAT years.
Thanks
Len
July 26, 2009 at 7:46 am #68714RobinBlamiresThe site becoming a “Jingle Museum” to me sounds like a complement.
Especially with the various uploads which I can't complain about.
Len, I would not like to think I'm discouraging from using the site but the last thing I thought when using this would that there would be an age divide which is completely wrong.
Taking to account those I've met at various Jinglemad meets and although I didn't speak to him myself, David Lloyd happened to turn up to the last one in Nottingham and having heard him in interviews he comes across as a superb fella with a passion for radio but is also forward thinking.
I just wanted to get the point across that certain others from the various companies read the comments although I don't want this to be too much of a fracas.
July 26, 2009 at 9:00 am #68716barrydavidallanbdaBut Robin ,,isnt it good that these jingle companies can see peoples views..No radio station ever says they had a poor rajar because the jingles didnt work..and maybe the truth hurts
But on this forum we have collectors ,listeners, presenters, management, fans' or 'anoraks' who enjoy jingles.. and in their real life may enjoy other genres of music, but they know what jingles work well on air … we could be a quality control team..
I have over the years said that Bespoke jingles a P*ss poor ,they are as bad the EAP jingles from the 1970's ..but stations want to use them due to cost..
I would rather Moyles and Radio 1 used Jam again on air ..But he is using Sandy's company to make radio 1 sound as big as it used to be ok..music 4 jingles are a not bad copy of Jam………. but now With this Dave langer jingle we have a copy of a copy .. and that cant be good..
Bespoke dont think of making your “cheesy song”package
July 26, 2009 at 10:12 am #68717GrahamCollinsWhat irks me is that people who have never worked in professional radio sit here and snipe at people who have.
July 26, 2009 at 11:54 am #68721barrydavidallanbdaRe; What irks me is that people who have never worked in professional radio sit here and snipe at people who have …
But in radio the manager of a station maybe from a sales background ..and has no idea how to put together a radio show and he/she can fault a presenters link…
These days its radio by numbers that way people who cant present radio shows get on air.
I rate Len and Robin wixxy and yourself for their views on the subject.. this forum should be to support the better jingle companies in the USA and UK , and stop the use of poor products on air………jingles
I have worked for stations in the past you always find someone on the team who knows someone who sings in a pub and they may use him and his band for station jingles….Thats so wrong
August 5, 2009 at 5:51 pm #68976barrydavidallanbdaLooks like its gone from the website now
