Hi guys! So finally….and it’s been a long time coming, now all those classic AJ Jingles from the 80’s & 90’s are available to have your name, station name, slogan and brand sung on the same tracks using whatever lyrics you want. The first series, #1, focuses on a handpicked selection (there were 307 cuts to choose from) of 30 cuts from that era. The emails have been overwhelming and we are almost complete for our first session in 10 days. It’s on both Sound Cloud & YouTube whether you just want to geek/anorak out or actually order some for your name, project, station etc. Here’s the presentation. Thanks so much everyone. May 22, 2018 at 11:03 am #95914IainJohnstonSlight hiccup AJ?
At approx 22-26 seconds in, Steve Wright and someone else are airchecked at the same time!
Intentional to make sure we’ve really listened to the demo properly ?!?! :^)Also:-
1) what’s the pricing structure please?
2) your website appears to be a blank black page with a tiny “run flash” button,
some visitors may need to hit that button to run Flash version 10.Apart from that, a GREAT selection to choose from!

At approx 22-26 seconds in, Steve Wright and someone else are airchecked at the same time!I’d say Intentional, but it does sound confused – Steve is on left channel, other DJ is on the right, plus that Maximum Music jingle on top of them too.
I noticed cut #29 has 2 completely different jingles on it though – the Steve Wright jingle isn’t a resing or alternate version of the the Q101 cut.
On a technical note, why does the Duncan Newmarch resing of Steve Wright’s “Across the Nation… … Radio 1” cut play faster? Both versions are synced at the very start of play. Listen on headphones to better hear the drift…

Firstly always fully intentional yes. Hidden things for geeks to find!!! . So the pricing is available from info@ajmusicproductions directly and does depend on the cut but as the first session is 80% full we can offer deals for multiple cuts etc. I’m happy to work with everyone on getting a solution to what they want. So @gameswizard the variable speed is most likely to do with TAPE. *some* of these early cuts were recorded on a gorgeous AMS/Neve desk in Milan Italy onto 24 track studer 2 inch tape. We mastered to 30ips quarter inch tape and restored in early 90’s. There can be some speed variation but the cut is in Concert G major and might run slightly fast but Duncans recent re-sing is closer to G than the original Steve Wright version. Finally cut #29 IS one of the same. the second version is a keyboard and guitar mix-out (without drums etc) of the first cut. I promise! These are my babies so I would know. Thanks. AJ

Of course it is. I can hear it now D’oh!, & thanks for the explanation regarding the speed.
May 25, 2018 at 4:39 am #95722AJ-NYCI would like to thank the support of Jingle Mad and everyone as really excited about the first re-sings session on June 4th. We’ve booked in 12 cuts and have room for 2 more! Thanks again everyone. https://soundcloud.com/user-714178636/01-aj-classic-re-sings-series-1-presentation-final
May 27, 2018 at 2:51 pm #95348tonymullinsTeam Jinglemad; Aj is awesome to deal with – keeps everything simple and straightforward – has a detailed knowledge of his own jingles and what can and can’t be sung, if all goes to plan, soon I’ll be “Steve Wright!” ….can’t wait to hear how my first cut comes out (there may be more if the wife, and of course funding allows) …..actually, who am I kidding, it’s just the wife!

Thanks Tony for that, it was a pleasure to meet you through this crazy world of jingles!! Like Tony said I know these babies inside and out, backwards and forwards, left & right, mono or stereo, even out of phase and then placed in mono! . I work with you on a personal basis to get what you want. There have been some who decided to make public a private conversation, commenting of my prices…that they were too high. This is not true and I work and help you all out whatever your budgets might be. It’s not the mind of a rocket scientist who came to make sure that the very short idents cost less than the 2/3 phrase vocal sings (medium length jingles) would also cost less than the long ramps or heavier sung lyrics with say sentences as much as 14 words in them. Next week we are recording 14 cuts all ordered within 4 days of this service being available. Thanks very much for that. AJ
May 28, 2018 at 10:18 am #95267scotronMemberJust ordered my cut yesterday. Really quick service….from hearing the demo….to selecting a track….writing the lyrics and getting a reply – all within 24 hours. Well done AJ. Looking forward to hearing the finished product.
May 29, 2018 at 4:00 am #95108michiMemberThere’s a couple of cuts in there that I like. I will have to look into this when the budget improves.

It’s quite despicable when folk share a personal communication, be it business or personal. By doing so, however, they should of course then be politely declined any assistance in the future To throw in my tuppence, I can say that AJ offered me a competitive (some might even say generous) deal on the two re-sings that I have ordered. I don’t know him personally, but my impressions are that he is obviously primarily a talented producer and secondly a reasonable businessman.
May 31, 2018 at 6:57 am #95070gameswizardMemberI forgot to ask: who is the lead male vocalist on the “Across the nation…” cut, plus, who says “Steve Wright” on that cut also?
After hearing Duncan’s re-sing, the male vocal sounds almost identical now as he did back in the late 80’s.
Thanks.May 31, 2018 at 10:17 am #95044Sean MartinMemberI forgot to ask: who is the lead male vocalist on the “Across the nation…” cut, plus, who says “Steve Wright” on that cut also?

May 31, 2018 at 11:21 am #95018IainJohnstonNow that’s VERY shrewd as a business model for the product, certainly to broadcast clients at least!
1) Royalties for the rights
2) Royalties for airplay (per play in UK anyway)
3) Royalty for each sing (AJ premises are in NY, union town) as the “artiste” performing
4) Royalties for lease of materialAnd probably more as owner of the company.
I tip my hat to AJ on this one !

I’d never have guessed. I wonder… is there any video of him in action?
May 31, 2018 at 8:57 pm #94835scotronMemberVideo…Now there is a thought. Hope your are going to video this historic session AJ. Got to do it for posterity etc….

Many thanks Chris and you were one of the first ones to place your order. Much appreciated. AJ

They do indeed and thankfully because I look after my “pipes” and live an extremely healthy lifestyle (starts coughing furiously for some reason) It hasn’t changed at all apart from hitting about a whole tone lower bass notes.

Thanks Ian. So how it works for personal cuts is simple. You buy it and it’s yours forever. If you were to broadcast it, then yes you’d simply have to write down the name of the jingle/composer/publisher etc. There is no royalty for each sing as by state law you are allowed to work out the appropriate deal with each singer as long as they agree to (and they sign to that fact) that they are happy releasing the recording. I’m not sure what you mean Royalty for the lease of the material, well there are several meanings to it in fact. This is not a commercial sale in the way a song on iTunes is so by purchasing the jingle you don’t own the copyright of the work/music/vocals within the jingle, but you own the right to keep it (deeming it as your own personal property for the purpose for which it was intended) ….oh hell sorry for the legal stuff. For Broadcast stations buying several cuts, we take a cool approach and do not impose a license period/term. I do not think this is fair. However is a station is buying more than 5 for a breakfast show or something, we would then give them our standard jingle licensing. Phew! back to the mixing board. Coffee anyone? AJ
June 1, 2018 at 8:18 am #94039IainJohnston“…oh hell sorry for the legal stuff”
Not at all!
While many of us who’ve been involved for a long time are familiar with different companies methods and even the
different “legals” between e.g. Texas or California, its always worthwhile to “educate” the younger or newer ones
to our hobby as to how it all works!
:^)Iain (not Ian, “two I’s, one on either side of my nose” is how to remember it! Heh heh! )
