One of the few joys of living in London is that I can listen to this station on DAB rather than online. Whilst I love the 80s music played, they are using some geniunely appalling sweepers and a vocoded tag line which is a terrible way to brand a new radio station in my view.
No doubt cost was kept to an absolute minimum (no pun intended ) but if you used imaging like this http://www.4shared.com/file/218569196/9eb099bd/JAM_WXXY.html then no doubt you would get more listeners who would identify with the era and enjoy some good old fashioned nostalgia. More listeners surely means more advertising revenue ?
My reason for posting the WXXY cuts is that I haven't heard them for ages and they are awesome. Thanks to Mr Jeffrey T Mason and David Barras who, I think, orginally posted them on here years ago !
Why didn't Absolute radio talk to Jeffro before they started this venture ?
Cheers,

Wow – what I high.. I so needed that
I haven't listened to those WXXY cuts for ages and have just listened to it 5 times over loud on headphones. JAM jingles at their best in my view – so much energy!!!!
I think that could only be bettered by a master quality dub (hint hint anyone?) LOL!!
February 10, 2010 at 6:16 am #72369tyty21WXXY new how to do 80's and do it right!
February 10, 2010 at 11:10 am #72372BarrasNot only did Jeffro cherry-pick the “right” JAM jingles for WXXY, they used a great American voice-guy called Eric Edwards, here`s an example…

February 10, 2010 at 12:50 pm #72374jingle fanPaul thank you for posting. That was so uplifting and a brilliant example of how a station should sound. It is so fresh it could be used today, certainly it would blow the other shrill female jingles away. I've never heard this before and wonder what other stations did Jeffrey T have an influence on in terms of Jingles.
February 11, 2010 at 12:48 am #72382dianablanton1984MemberMy computer's infected while trying to download this!!!
UPDATE: That's funny, when I went to Task Manager on my Windows PC, and clicked End Task, I checked my McAfee software. and it said that my computer's fine. In other words, I can't download the WXXY jingle file from 4Shared, guys, because the “Anti-Spyware” thing popped up when it shouldn't be!

Mcafee is a joke.
Try Nortons or Alvast!February 11, 2010 at 9:14 pm #72396mbMemberDiana B wrote:

Part of McAfee 2010 product is that it scans pre-download rather than post. I've tried to download on all my Mcafee test machines and it works ok. But even if it did detect something it didn't like you can override. And for the other poster McAfee is actually faster than Norton in just about every test and the Active protection or “Artemis” wipes the fdloor with Norton.
Just for information purposes!February 12, 2010 at 2:00 am #72400dianablanton1984MemberMichael Bolton wrote:

Just for information purposes!Well, something went wrong when I tried to download the jingle file–which has since been on 4shared for about 2 years now. When I clicked on the Download Now icon, the “Anti-Spyware” bit came up instead of the usual download link I get when I am on the 4shared site. Previously, I had no problems getting the files, but something's up which is kind of forcing me to not go to the 4shared site anymore.
As far as McAfee goes, my mom actually recommended it for me when I got my own computer back in late August 2009, and I had no problems using it! I don't know if you guys tried to download the WXXY file yet, but maybe the “Anti-Spyware” bit was probably just an ad or something–hence the Internet Explorer mention in the window taskbar while trying to close the “ad” (forcing me to use Task Manager to get offline).
I think I'd better lay off any downloads from 4shared for the time being until this matter is resolved. Sorry.
February 12, 2010 at 12:24 pm #72406IainJohnstonMemberThere IS a well-known potential “security hole” in the default 4Shared folder settings generally – it was still there when Michael first posted the link above, but I do note that he's got that closed now. :^)
February 12, 2010 at 6:30 pm #72410dianablanton1984MemberWell, thanks to Paul Blend via email, I managed to grab my hands on the WXXY jingle montage. Those jingles were AWESOME!
Why don't radio stations air these things anymore? Why???
Oh, and thanks Wixy1360 for the 4shared update. If that “spyware” thing pops up again, I will have to send an email to the original submittor from here on out–IF he still has the files, that is!
