HI All. Just wanted to pass along a video I did as a ‘teaser’ for my Christmas display I’m working on.
I decided this year to do a Christmas light display synced to music. I’m sure many of you have seen them on YouTube in the past.
Of course, for me, a Christmas light display synced to music wouldn’t be complete without jingles.
So here is the video I did teasing what is coming later this month. As most of you will recognize, this jingle is from Bespoke. I ordered it as a one off to see what it would sound like.
Where are the JAM jingles you ask? Well, I’m headed to the Jingle Palace tomorrow (Thursday) to watch the session for the rest of the cuts I ordered.
As I think most collectors would be, I’m very excited.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50_HS1YDFc4

November 7, 2018 at 11:09 pm #103211IainJohnstonHaving seen the usual TooYube videos of even entire American streets synch’ed up to
the (excellent) Trans Siberian Orchestra tracks such as The Wizards of Winter or
A Mad Russian’s Christmas, the mind boggles as to having jingles sequed into these
utterly crazy sound-to-light extravaganzas!Nice to know that customers can still get to “attend” their JAM cut sessions – do any of the other
producers still let the punters into the studios these days?November 7, 2018 at 11:17 pm #103212Davey_wMemberWow that’ll be something special! I’d love to see my JAM jingles sung at a session. Unfortunately the air fare from Liverpool to Dallas would be quite prohibitive! Looking forward to hearing all about it!
November 12, 2018 at 5:15 pm #103249tcruise3MemberAuthorHi all. Just wanted to pass along a short video of my trip to JAM. I’ve packaged it as a promo for my Christmas light show. I’ll post the full length videos for those who are interested as soon as I get them ready.
Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRd91KPOarYNovember 12, 2018 at 7:19 pm #103250DuncanNewmarchMemberThey’re on form- you’ve got some lovely cuts there Terry
November 12, 2018 at 7:30 pm #103251IainJohnstonWas that last cut JAM?
“Drive” vocally sounded like the RW do-it-yourself online Christmas thingy from several years ago?
Apart from that, looking forward to the videos

It’s Bespoke – see the first post Iain.
November 12, 2018 at 9:18 pm #103253m_hodgeyMemberVery nice Terry!
I can’t wait to hear the finished result on the re-sing of JAM Sky#167; my all-time favourite Christmas jingle, written by the late great Tom Merriman.
November 12, 2018 at 11:22 pm #103254DevawebMemberMore importantly, how often do you go to Chuy’s down the road? And do they still do the 911-HotPlate if you ask them nicely?

We’ve been going to Chuy’s on Wednesday every week for more than 10 years. We know lots of the staff since we see them every week. I will admit, I’ve never heard of the 911-HotPlate. I’ll have to ask about it. I’m curious. I assume that means you’ve been to Austin in the past. Actually, we did skip Chuy’s twice this year. We were in Madrid and London back in September. I couldn’t find a Chuy’s in either one of those cities.
November 13, 2018 at 1:54 am #103256dianablanton1984MemberNice Christmas cuts you got there Terry. The JAM singers still got it! (And the Bespoke jingle wasn’t half bad either)
Looking forward to the videos whenever you have time (no rush).

I spent 5 years living one block from Chuys in Dallas – I have many of their t-shirts in my collection! But yes, I’ve been to Austin many times (you can hear my jingles on Latino 102.7), and always enjoy the city, especially Taverna on 2nd Street!
November 14, 2018 at 1:36 pm #103264m_hodgeyMemberWhen I first heard the jingles, I thought Joe and yourself did the Drivetime show in Cripple Creek!

I have a FM transmitter now. Just need to connect it to a 500 ft antenna and up the wattage to 10,000. Then I should be able to do a drive time show for Cripple Creek and the rest of Austin. I think I’ll just focus on my light show for now though.

After watching this, would I be correct in saying that the entire vocal lyric of this (or any long-ish lyriced) jingle is “assembled together” from the best of multiple other takes of it?
Looking forward to hearing the end result.

When a session is done, the vocals are “stacked” — typically 3-layers thick. That way you get a full sound from a handful of singers. In addition, they may “punch in” a word/lyric that didn’t phrase correctly (as they redid “creek” on this one).
You’ll hear the group leader calling for the next layer by saying “2” or “3” to move on to the next one. Then, once done, it’s all mixed down to the final version you ultimately hear.
Did that answer your question…?!

November 21, 2018 at 3:00 pm #103286tcruise3MemberAuthorI finally took some video of my Christmas lights set to…jingles? I’d like to think I’m the first person to synchronize custom jingles to a Christmas light display.
As always the personal cuts from Jon are great!Video for the light display to two of the cuts.
