Does anyone rememeber the major station sound change that happened on Rock FM, I believe it was May 1997.

From using JAM jingles for several years, I remember tuning in one Monday in my parent’s car and the sound was totally different, it was suddenly a very high energy heavy American sound with voiceovers from John Pleisse, the music also changed to a more guitar lead format during the late 90s. I personally didnt like it at the time, having grown up listening to Rock FM in the mid 90s the sound change was dramatic overnight. I believe it was at the same time as the launch of Century 105.4 and they needed to do something different, Red Rose Gold also changed to Red Rose 999.

Some of the archive stuff on aircheckdownloads.com gives some examples but there’s very little out there from 1997/1998 in terms of recordings off air, does anyone have anything?

Thanks in advance, just having a trip down memory lane!
