96.4 The Eagle Station Song

Another shameless plug there for VBI Squared, Danny!

Surely your company should be concentrating on attracting business from radio stations rather than jingle collectors?

As a writer/producer myself, nothing irritates me more than companies and individuals bombarding me with unsubtle attempts to get me to use their services. In fact, unless they’re REALLY good, then the chances are that they’ll never hear from me if they do!

If you want to effectively market VBI Squared, send out a bunch of demo CDs to producers and perhaps back up that activity with an ad in The Radio Magazine or on the classified pages of Broadcast, but don’t hang around forums pretending to “have discovered this great new jingle company website” (as you did in a previous post) and then use future postings to shamelessly plug your company in the subject header! This really isn’t a good way to market a company – it cheapens your image, weakens your brand and people will not take you seriously. This is precisely why good and clever marketing succeeds over cheap and cheerful.

I don’t wish to criticise, but please, respect the fact that this is a collectors site and we want to talk jingles WITHOUT intrusive and unsolicited advertising! (The cynic in me did wonder if you were really interested in the Eagle theme, or simply using that as a cover for your plug!)

All this said, I do wish you luck in your venture.

Ah! The plug for VBI has disappeared/been removed! (Just in case anyone thought I was going mad by posting my previous reply!)

They have just played the station song on the eagle at 9.30 this morning after a request from a listener! And there playing all the old JAM jingles Z100 resings from 96 as its their 10th birthday today. You can also listen to the station online at their website http://www.964eagle.co.uk, but i expect they will be only playing the jingles for today only!

If my memory serves me right,the voice of Talon on the promos that they used to run was Pamela Steele,the American V/O who you’ll find on a number of JAM demos,including the fabulous “Hyperlink”
