I heard some interesting jingles on WHOM last night as they were ending their all Christmas music programming. Some are obviously “home made.” A couple sound like they could be JAM. Anyone know for sure?
Thanks

http://home.comcast.net/~jjlehmann/WHOM2.mp3Sorry for the static, but this station is about 246 kilometers away from me. It does help that they’re the station that covers more land than anyone else in North America though
December 27, 2004 at 3:09 pm #14708cosgrovebmI don’t think any of those cuts are JAM. I know WHOM used JAM for a long time (They were the last time I was in the area…which was, alas, about 10 years ago), but it doesn’t sound as if they are doing so these days…
December 27, 2004 at 5:54 pm #14721TommyI know a couple are TM Century.. The first ones on each file (that sounds like kids singing) are from the “Mannheim Steamroller’s Christmas Imaging Extraordinaire”, make for KVIL Dallas.. I’m sure the other cuts are TM but can’t pinpoint the package..
December 29, 2004 at 2:34 am #14737jlehmannThanks. Now that I listen again, they all sound like TM Century. I had assumed the ones with the kids singing were home made, interesting.
Yes, WHOM did use JAM for many years until 2 or 3 years ago. I wish I had recorded more of them before they dropped them. Like almost every other station here in the US they’re now using Reel World (the WLIT package) . They do still use one or two JAM beds to talk over during promos or whatever.
If anyone has, or ever finds any of their JAM stuff, I’d certainly like to hear it.
December 29, 2004 at 3:12 pm #14740cosgrovebmI’ll have to see if I can dig through the archives and find some of the WHOM stuff that I recorded when I was in Northern New England back in 1994. I recall, however, that It was really scratchy recording…as at that point in time I was using a very marginal boombox to record stuff when I was driving around in the car with my folks.
As I recall, they were using stuff from the early KOST packages…Along the Coast, etc.
As a big fan of the JAM and TM Century full 7 voice sound, I think it’s a shame that many stations have opted for the ReelWorld sound. I know that there are many fans of ReelWorld on the board, but I just think that big sound is more classy….
In fact, being in the Chicago area, it would be kind of cool to hear WLIT use say…TM Century’s Wash@Work or one of the newer JAM KOST packages
bcoz
December 29, 2004 at 5:16 pm #14741jkubiakIn your second file, I could definately hear the use of Manhiem Steamroller Christmas. I have never heard them on the air before. They sound pretty good. More stations need to bring seven voice jingle back. I perfer the seven from Jam or TM over most vocal groups out there today.
