Update: swapped emails with mark Wesley, he says the news cut is from the same package that Lisa Stansfield sang on… but he doesn’t have the audio☹️
November 8, 2019 at 3:56 pm #104366nleiboHi Masty – I just had a dig around in my collection – is this the solid gold jingle you are looking for?
https://soundcloud.com/mark-speer-462994917/the-sound-of-solid-gold-alfaAnd Now it “can’t be found”…
November 8, 2019 at 7:34 pm #104367IainJohnston“And Now it “can’t be found”…”
As they say at a certain American-owned membership-only wholesale warehouse we frequent, “When it gone, its gone!”
{Then again, those of us who downloaded it when it was there…}

MPF has all of their achives, including many not disclosed. (snicker)
November 9, 2019 at 12:41 pm #104371IainJohnstonAll joking aside, the UK’s ASDA stores in-house “radio” used to have (awful) jingles, as did Top Shop (damn good TM ones) etc.
Doubt if C&stc& ever had though ?!?

Just went into Topshop to get this season’s Jingle Anorak. Sold out unfortunately. So, I got these instead…

November 9, 2019 at 11:09 pm #104376RadioboyMemberCool Jingles Jonno!
For those of us who don’t know the back story behind Top Shop / Top Man – can you explain for us?
I’m guessing this wasn’t something like “Hospital Radio”, based on the Jam Package you posted, it seems
this Top Shop/Top Man operation had some major $’s & presence to afford such a wode assortment of
wonderfully rich JAM jingles among the others you posted. I tried a simple google search, but from this
end of the puddle, nothing came up except for clothing stores with the name Top Shop or Top Man
(well, something else actually did come up when I searched “Top Man”, but I’ll leave that aloneCurious to learn more about this, looking forward to your response as time permits, & as always, Thanks
for posting the ear candy you share with us.Kindly,
((RadioBoy))
~JTNovember 9, 2019 at 11:15 pm #104378rakMemberIt was exactly what you think it was – a network of clothing stores. For those outside the UK, Top Shop is women’s clothes and Top Man is (obvs) men’s clothing.
They had a DJ in a booth playing records to the customers, and I’m guessing that having this in-store radio generated more sales than it cost to run the stations. The only booth I ever went into was at Top Shop/Top Man in the Gateshead Metrocentre in the late ’80s. People like Paul McKenna started off there – I have some of his jingles on cassette. Possibly CPMG, and pretty awful.
The AJ/Jam/TM packages were all excellent.

Wow!, that’s kind of interesting, the only thing I can compare it to that I recall from back in the 80’s, when I lived in Brooklyn, N.Y.
there used to be a mall called Cesars Bay Bazaar. They had a live DJ spinning hits that played throughout the mall, but I don’t recall
them ever having jingles. I DO recall they did kind of spotlight the DJ in a high visibility booth & the DJ would invite folks to drop by
& make a request, or drop off their entries for hourly raffles or give away’s, or whatever. Now that I think about it, I probably thought
to myself: “Wow, that’s a cool idea! but it would be better if they had jingles”November 10, 2019 at 9:45 am #104382IainJohnston“Those are from 1988 not 2013”
Indeed so.
The “2013” is my archive marker tag from when I created the montage – I really should have trimmed
that off the file name before posting now, shouldn’t I !November 10, 2019 at 9:54 am #104383IainJohnstonMark, any chance of re-posting the S/c audio please?
https://soundcloud.com/mark-speer-462994917/the-sound-of-solid-gold-alfa [track not found]
I had to grab it via an audio editor in play-out, instead of s/c download, and its gone ppfffftt.
Thanks!

Korvettes” (Derpartment Store with the name derived from “Eight Jewish Korean Veterans”)–don’t remember the DJ, though…

WOW! Now how many folks actually could have salvaged -THAT- interesting (yet useless) factoid out of thin air Neil? Good memory indeed!
& if you haven’t somehow accidently stumbled upon this ancient link to the past: https://www.heyridge.com/2016/08/was-there-ever-really-a-ceasars-bay/
I hope that brings back a few additional memories.Try as I have to search for Cesars Bay Bazaar radio, or any reference or mention to it, I’ve sadly failed in my quest to turn up anything
*especially displeasing as I worked as an “SEM/SEO” specialist in a former life, so I really thought I’d have unearthed something – but apparently
either nobody ever mentioned it in any blog or site, so Google never indexed anything. If memory serves me correctly (which it often DOESN’T!) I want to say their closed carrier station was called WCBB, regardless of if the call’s were actually
commercially available, but hey- it was the late 70’s/early 80’s – and in “Brooklyn, N.Y.” *fork-an-A” so who was going to raise a stink if the call’s were
assigned to some commerical station. Like I said, I don’t recall hearing any jingles on the station, just lots of references & promo’s for the stores within
the shopping plaza, and the dj’s engaging & encouraging the crowds to stop by wherever they were located, to either drop off business cards for drawings
or the chance to pick up some prize or something. In retrospect, & knowing some local homegrown DJ’s from that area at the time, I could only imagine what that station would have sounded like or how
popular the station would have become had they hired these guys! Brooklyn’s Own: Hank Hayes & Jim Nazium https://youtu.be/iFhUJNVyQnENovember 11, 2019 at 12:43 pm #104397MarkSMemberNleibo, please check your DM. Kind regards, Mark.

November 11, 2019 at 7:19 pm #104400IainJohnstonIndeed, thanks Mark :*)
Whats still bugging me is that I recognise the front half string section bit in particular which had convinced me that the
original vocal version of the cut is on one of the Chiltern Radio packages (or even County Sound?) but didn’t spot it
on a admittedly quick “wheech” through dubs of Chiltern 1-4.November 12, 2019 at 1:52 am #104404JohnLAs one who got started collecting primarily PAMS classic numbered series jingles 35 or so years ago Radioboy, in large part, thanks to my pallies Hank & Jim, I’ve ended up with many Alfasound demos, and have all three ‘Generic’ cuts LP’s. I was unable to find the hard drive that the WAV files of LP1 is on, so I have posted it, and the other two LP’s as MP3’s, and also LP’s 2 and 3 as WAV files, which I did sonically ‘clean’. Use the link below and have fun with this stuff! Download the file folder named Alfasound Generic Jingles MP3 & WAV… and as Jim Nazium would (and still does say) ‘Go Wild’!
