Hi all, dreary saturday so looking back at some old IDs we used at HR Medway as it’s their 50th bday next year. Does anybody have the originals of these:
1. news ID (think it might be from an old Manchester Mix tape)
2. Alfasound generic, solid gold
3. another news ID (Radio Orwell or somewhere in Suffolk)?https://soundcloud.com/adrian-last/sets/oct19_al
Quality is poor hence why I’m on the hunt for the originals. Thanks all!
October 26, 2019 at 4:55 pm #104256IanFNo 1 is an Alfasound news jingle. It could be from their Radio 210 package?

Yes it is the Radio 210 Alfasound
No 2 was from the Alfasound LP 100 General Jingles
No 3 no idea
October 26, 2019 at 5:12 pm #104259UKJinglesMemberAre Hospital Radio Stations still operating?
The (Majority) of Hospital Radio Stations had better Jingles than their BBC/Commercial Counterparts (especially so nowadays!)October 26, 2019 at 8:01 pm #104260IainJohnstonThird one very “Pennine Viking & Hallam”?
The generic I think is on the Chiltern 4 (?) ref within a bundle of the Dallas-recorded generics?
The 210 – the ref has a lot of news stings – must pull out the dub and have a good old listen ! :^)
PS-totally agree there with Pete – even half of the collectors on here have better jingles than many
of their BBC/Commercial Counterparts now !October 26, 2019 at 10:03 pm #104261mbMemberAre Hospital Radio Stations still operating?

October 27, 2019 at 8:18 am #104263IainJohnstonCouldn’t find the generic on Chiltern4/Dallas, however here’s the 210 newsin – full and brass sting, from the Ref Tape…

{ Looks for a “gobsmacked” smiley ! }
The main cuts are on MPF Basics #37, and I have a montage of the ref up {somewhere} from a wee while back.
October 27, 2019 at 4:36 pm #104266LastyMemberAuthorThanks Iain for posting that, and thanks all for the responses. I seem to have some cuts from the Alfa LPs but not that one. If anybody could share a link to that cut, that would be much appreciated.
I dug around in my old messages on JM and found that the 3rd cut was for Suffolk Radio Group from Mark Wesley Productions, but I can’t find it currently…

Sean – will email you on the .ch address
IJMasty – “Suffolk Group Radio” was Radio Orwell after absorbing Saxon Radio, and morphed into “SGR”;
I’ve never heard any “Mark Wesley Productions” material before, but is that the “Mark West” as was known
in the offshore era (possibly even up here on pirate Radio Scotland?)PS Edit:-
He’s still in business?!?!?
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mark-Wesley-Productions/949742065139707Maybe you want to contact him in case he’s still got them “in his attic in a cardboard box” as we always say?
October 27, 2019 at 6:06 pm #104268PKMemberMark Wesley produced and also sang the Radio Luxembourg jingles that were used on air between early 1975 and around 1978 when the CPMG Ben Freedman jingles came in.
Mark also sang on a couple of RNI Radio Northsea International jingles when he was on that station in 1970.
October 27, 2019 at 6:08 pm #104269PKMemberPeter Powell used his Mark Wesley sung name acapella jingle from 208 on Radio One when he first joined the station.
October 28, 2019 at 12:26 pm #104275martinlesterMemberJust to update the 2nd Track was from the ALFA2 LP Jingles 2

I know I had a big gap in my jingle-collecting “journey” (…ugh…hate these naff expressions!…) between
the mid 1970s to the mid 1990s, but yet again I find there’s loads of things I’ve never heard or known about! Thanks for the info Martin!
:^)November 4, 2019 at 9:28 pm #104336LastyMemberAuthorWell, these Alfa LPs are pretty elusive. There’s a copy on eBay for about 63 quid (no way) and it’s scratched as hell by the sounds of it! I’m sure people on here have got them but it’s tracking down which one of you might be able to help. It’s only one mp3 cut in many hundreds! Thanks if that’s you…
November 5, 2019 at 8:31 am #104339IainJohnston“only one mp3 cut”
MP3 ???
I would dearly hope that anyone “digitizing” an LP would have done it in full-spec WAV, and NOT MP3 !
A 128k MP3 would be not worth while having – the “scratchy LP” at least when WAV’d can be put through
audio processors to “clean up ” scratches and other problems; MP3 artifacts can’t be “undone”.
:^(November 5, 2019 at 6:41 pm #104343LastyMemberAuthorOk then, “only one wav cut”. Sadly Iain, not everyone is so diligent, and I was lowering my expectations in advance!
November 5, 2019 at 8:34 pm #104344IainJohnston…I know…
If I had the item, Masty, I’d have given you it by now, but I can’t find it anywhere here.(Although I’m damn sure I know where there’s bound to be properly-digitized copies of the LP(s), but
that’s not within my power).
IJNovember 5, 2019 at 11:33 pm #104345MarkSMemberHi Masty – I just had a dig around in my collection – is this the solid gold jingle you are looking for?
