Worth a listen – Alfasound and C21 jingles.

Not so keen on the taking the piss quite so uch, and for the typical female cohost it is of coursee the funnest thing shes ever ever heard judging by her fake laugh. When MFM went back to Marcher they were simiar with such a “arn't the 80's crap” attitude. Funny how its some major find – As 210 have moved under gWR ownership it wass pretty usual to junk all the archive stuff like jingles. Wonder quite how many packages they actually have in thier archive???

        To goonerguy,

thanks for pointing this out, always good to hear jingles being remembered…

        To Michael,

totally agree with you about the “fake laugh” – I get the feeling though that I`m showing my age again by not understanding why these “young” presenters are ridiculing good jingles.

It would be great if Steve and Chris sent their producer an INVOICE!

for unauthorised broadcast use of the Jingles

Wonder if he would be laughing then

“Ah well, ain't we ironic in thinking these jingles are hilarious?”
A typical reaction from most people that work in radio.

What they probably forget is that most people in the Thames Valley could probably sing one of those jingles back to them if asked about 210 but what's the betting they could remember a sweeper?

Just another sad indictment of British Radio in the 21st century … at least people like Hirsty regale in the fact that jingles are great!

Have no idea what they currently use for their weather and travel… but I dare say the C21 jingles are better! That travel bed's ace.

I enjoyed those clips – especially the travel and weather cuts… awesome jingles!

It is EXTREMELY sad how these breakfast shows have deteriorated to Tellytubby level with the 'triple-headed' presentation.

I HAVE to ask ~ WHY do they need a yappy 'girl' on?

The 'girl' on this breakfast show is Molly ~ she is on 'Mollyday' (a holiday in Greece). The website says the listeners are 'missing her so much' she's now ringing in in 'reports' from her holiday.

These 'reports' include stories of her dad 'peeing in the bushes' and someone squeezing the person behind them on the plane.

                    Ha ha ha ha ha….

All these 'personality 'fun' links are going out at 'peak' listening time ~ but ~ the peaks AIN'T what they used to be.

The show sounds like a GREAT excuse to bring back the 'cheesey (but GREAT) Alfasound jingles, get RID of the presenters, and bring in just ONE half decent dj…

“The 'girl' on this breakfast show is Molly” – I'm pretty sure she is a girl…

Hmm! That sounds awful! One bloke being allowed to drone on about nothing! I quite enjoy a few people being on air, sounding like they're friends and feeling like I'm part of a gang.

Unfortunately, we're not in 1974 anymore and for whatever reason, be it listener preference, trends in the medium or one thing that worked once in Adelaide being exported wholesale to 40-odd individual stations – things change.

Most people these days have one ear on the radio and one eye on GMTV/CBeebies during peak listening hours which the amazing DJ's of yesteryear didn't have.

I might be a bit biased but I don't think there's any need to be quite so personal and attack Molly who is…whether you like it or not….just doing the job she's been asked to do.

Real talent in radio doesn't need a bunch of mates around him or her to be successful – it's what you say, not how much you say.

I agree with Len – I've never been a fan of the sycophants who play along with the host and overstep their role as 'travel totty' or showbiz news person…….yawn. Where's my iPod ?

i agree totally with what you say about the 'travel totty',as you put it,getting too familiar in a presenting role.

but did the same apply to the likes of simon (mayo) and the breakfast crew, which was entertaining in it's time (simon, sybil (ruscoe) and rod (mackenzie))? simon (dj),sybil doing travel, with rod doing the news of course.
times have changed and was probably a bit of an experiment for radio 1 to see how it progress.it was probably quite a successful formula back then,as it lasted for a while.

on different note,dj's bruno (brookes) and liz (kershaw) was essential listening in the late 80's on a radio 1 weekend breakfast show.
the banter between the latter worked very well i thought.

I actually quite like the double-header presenting role as perfected by Stuart Maconie & Mark Radcliffe on R2 and Pete & Geoff on Virgin but essentially office staff promoted to talent is hard to stomach on Radio Local.

“it's like a butcher finding a pig from the 90's” – WTF was Foxy on that morning ???? :) Great to hear the old Alfa jingles on-air again. As 210 gets consigned to the graveyard of names when Heart takes over in a few months, it's good to play these jingles again.
