Heart London (106.2) was 20 years old yesterday. From day 1, the station has always had sung jingles, provided by JAM Creative Productions, Music 4, IQ Beats and (currently) Reelworld. As Heart moved from being a local station to a national brand in recent years, it’s identity has remained very strong.
So here’s 20 years of London’s Heart in less than 5 mins:https://soundcloud.com/simonbeale/heart-london-20-years-jingles-montage

Couldn’t agree with you more Graham……..
“This Is Heart”….”This is Gold”….. Just so Bland….. Reminds me of the great Coca Cola vs Pepsi Demo!September 6, 2015 at 10:05 pm #98400IainJohnstonExcellent “timeline” montage!
Is it just my ageing ears, OR are the JAM vocals there on the “air versions” just a little bit smoother than on the JAM demo?
Meaning…with apologies to JMW etc …on the demo the “Two” of the frequency sounded very “teweooo” – but what I hear on the montage sound more like a proper “twooo”. i.e. no “ewe” !!!
(Damn good package for its era though – the resings for Discovery FM in Dundee Scotland IMPO sounded even better than the London “originals” due to having a bit more freedom of lyric’ing).

I was actually briefly living in Swindon when Heart 106.2 launched and could hear the station there and listened to its opening live breakfast show.
In the early days I though Heart 106.2 was probably in how sounded at launch and music policy and with those great JAM jingles, the closest London had to how Dublin’s original pirate version of Radio Nova and its successor Energy 103 both sounded at their peak with their slick very tight presentation and great music between 1980 and 1988 when for most of that time Nova was Number One in Ireland, both of those stations also using great JAM cuts too.
Heart 106.2 also had ex Radio Nova Dublin jock Liam Quigley on air when it launched too. Plus weren’t a couple of jocks from Chiltern Radio’s Hot FM on early Heart 106.2?
September 6, 2015 at 11:32 pm #98402RobinBlamiresThey’d have jumped at just the right time, seeing as Heart’s launch was one week before GWR’s “transformation” of the Chiltern Network on FM.

Was certainly an alternative to Capital which had only had sleepy Melody, Choice, LGR (WNK) and Sunrise for competition. -
