Last request then – I don't want to just sit here and ask for stuff, but I can't resist this one – could anyone upload the 87 Radio 1 package? I've got a copy here, but it's a pretty bad quality one, unfortunately.Did you get the yousendit file I sent you John only I haven't heard anything from you?

Just so people don't think I'm being rude – yep, I've replied to Ian. Not been around for the last few days, I'm afraid.
Anyway, lovely to hear the full package. It confirmed to me that there *are* two versions of the main theme song (the fully sung versions) – the second has a different mix on the “All the hits, with Solid Gold, cos it's got to be…” lines, which seems to put the vocals higher up in the mix. I was never sure before, as I thought it might just be my dodgy quality recordings!
And thanks for your insights, Len. I grew up listening to GEM, and have fond memories of the jingles. (For some reason, “In Derbyshire, Leicestershire, and Nottinghamshire” stuck in my head for years, long before I started getting interested in jingles through the net.)
I currently have a couple of the GEM packages on my MP3 player, and listen to them as I go to work – they cheer me up for the day

Hi folks, first posting from a new member so forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere. The 1987 Radio 1 package is probably my all-time favourite, as it launched just before I joined the BBC and I always associate the two events. I seem to recall Radio 1 making quite a big thing about the package at the time, with Steve Wright playing the Simon Bates-narrated demo/promo (oh to have that in something other than MW quality!)
When I was on my initial training course at the beeb, I bumped into a nice chap from radio who did me a cassette dub of the package, which was subsequently played to death.
What I'm now curious about is the add-ons, prior to the musical logo changing with the 1990 package. Does anyone have a list of those “in-between” jingles?

Thanks Barras – sorry, I should have been clearer, I wondered if there was a listing of the individual cuts contained in the “Additional Cuts to 1987 package” add-on.
