Dallas comeback in the UK?

edited November 2005 in Jingles Today!
Time to build a list of what stations are using the Dallas jinglehouses or resings (Steve England). Just to see whether the traditional Dallas companies are making a realistic comeback against the continuing success of homegrown jingles and the likes of Reelworld etc.

It will also be nice to hear your opinions as well...do you think we will ever get back to the Dallas jinglehouses dominance in the late eighties/early ninties in the UK, or have our stations moved on in a different direction.

I'll start with a few...

107 The Bee (TM Century)
107.4 Telford FM (Jam)
107.2 The Wyre (Jam)
103 The Eye (Steve England resings of Jam & Pams)

Comments

  • Vibe 105-108 are currently airing their new TM Century package too.

The Vibe was made by Wise Buddah in London...it is being sold in the US by TM Century

    hI THERE bello!

if I were a UK station, playing AC songs, or jammin oldies, i would nt have second thoughts in securing Dallas jingles!

That's why here in asia, Philippines particularly, dallas jingles are very popular. and that is because of their products' feel and heritage.
  • Kick FM in Newbury were using JAM, not sure what they're currently airing.

There is nothing Dalls sung anywhere close to Portsmouth at the moment. They are either Reelworld, Bespoke or GWR stations !

Rugby FM are using Steve England jingles but I don't know if they're US re-sings.

Yeah same here in Barmy Bracknell (Unless you count DAB Radio Broadcasts!)
I thought KICK FM were using JAM cuts but with UK Singers?
  • Oh,and there's a small matter of a certain station in Blackburn too.... :D

Paging Mr Stevens & Mr Martin...... :D
  • A few years ago I voice that uk jingles sounded poor and that usa jingles had quality in the vocals and beds...and a number of people on this forum and others put me down.

I think its sad that people cant think for themselves,it seems that its now in fashion to want a tm jingle package again...but they didnt go away...we in the uk used a cheap option ..."because it sounded like todays music"

Studio dragonfly was the best thing that could of happened classic cuts at ok prices

May I say some of the bigger jingle production firms are sounding good......and I cant tell if they are uk or us produced

i think the heritage and feel of dallas jingles are irreplacable. we here in the philippines produce local jingles that fit the culture, music and personality of the stations, you can't always discount the fact that not all nicely produced US jingles would always fit into a radio station's unique style.almost all of our foreign produced jingles are dallas-made though, dallas quality jingles can;t be beaten, formats may change, music genres may evolve, but their sound would always be timeless... :D

    To CoolNT,

just changing the subject slightly, I`ve got some JAM jingles from "close" to your part of the world, Indonesia to be exact. Just wondred if you knew of this station Coast 100 and whether they`re still using JAM jingles these days, here`s a cut for Coast 100...

If they are still using their launch package, then it's English singers.

    The usual Dallas/Leek combo!

hi sir dave, my CDs are comin soon. anywayz, about your query im afraid coast 100 has been swept away by indonesian waves. :) there are a number of stations in indonesia found at 100 mhz range. and here are some the names: Radio Swara 100.0 FM, Radio Megaprimadona 100.0, Radio Suaranada 100.0, Radio Diozz Citra Swara 100.0, Radio Fiskaria 100.0,Radio Kisaran 100.1, Radio Ika Lesmana 100.1, Suara 911 and many others, just check out this link

    http://www.asiawaves.net/indonesia-fm-radio-2.htm

but no signs of Coast 100 anymore. but dat sa nice cut there sir, thanks for sharing it. Indonesia has one of the longest coast lines in asia, the Philippines has the longest coast line, so no wonder why there;s a "Coast" in this part of earth.

There are a few stations in Indonesia that still airs Jam and of course reelworld, ill update you more soon.

  • Yup, Coast 100 has flip to 100.7 Batam FM, located in Batam Island (near Singapore). When they aired as Coast 100, their known as an AC station.
Currently their format is Indonesian music, so they used local jingles.

Indonesian market dominated by JAM jingles since 10 years ago, also TM Century. But currenty some of the largest and most influential stations in Indonesia using Groove Addicts jingles, such as: Prambors Radio, Ardan, Hard Rock FM, Smart FM, etc. and then from ReelWorld jingles airs on some top stations like: U-FM, MTV Sky, and ARH Global Radio.

I know that this is an old forum but I like to answer to this.

-This jingle from RX 93.1 sounds either in-house or from a different company.
In the later years, their jingles are now in-house.

-99.5 RT had jingles from TM Productions (Rhythm of the City, The Winning Score) and Thompson Creatives' (The Edge).
-Magic 89.9 had jingles, but I don't know the company.
-I don't know the jingle company for Crossover.
-Never heard NU 107 having jingles.
-Never heard of Power 108 having jingles.
-Wave 89.1 and Jam 88.3 had in-house jingles.
-Never heard K-Lite having jingles on that time, but they had jingles on their second iteration, but I don't know the jingle company.
-IFM had a lot of TM Century jingles, some used to this day. They used mostly Detroit's DRQ and Hartford's Hot AC, and had one cut from Big Phat Kiss and one cut of PLJ Morning Accelerator.
-Do you mean KY 91.5? (now Win Radio) Never heard their jingles.
-Energy FM had Reelworld's Veronica FM 1998, which is still used to this day.
-WRocK had CBS K-Lite and K-Lite 2 from Century 21, now TM Studios, still used to this day in the Cebu station. The Manila station is now Easy Rock.
-Star FM had a lot of JAM and Thompson Creatives jingles. The package they use from JAM are mostly Z100 packages (Flamethrower, Warp Factor, Skywave, Z World), Closer to the Music, It's All For You, Great Memories, KIIS/90. While for Thompson Creatives, Houston Mix I, Houston Mix II, Ultrapower, The Edge and Wildfire.
-During that time, Yes FM had TM Century's Mixed Up and Wild Card. Later in 2014, They started using Reelworld Triple Kiss, Kiss FM Chicago logo but had the Kiss 108 sonic logo. They later rebranded to Yes! The Best, and started using Reelworld's Radio Scoop 2 package. They also started using the Heart 2019 package last year.
-Y101 Cebu had Thomspon Creatives' Houston Mix I and The Edge. They also had TM Productions' Rhythm of the City.
-Never heard Killer Bee having jingles.
-103.5 Kiss FM (now Retro Cebu) had TM Century's We Play the Hits.
-UR 105 (now Halo-Halo Radio) had TM Century's Madison Avenue.

That's it. Please tell me if you want more.

    The_Jingle_Boy?

Wait... that's Ricky from Reelworld! He's a Client Relations representative in the Asian wing beside Anthony.
He's probably taking a break, but I didn't realise he was on Jinglemad until I discovered it. What a find.
-Never heard K-Lite having jingles on that time, but they had jingles on their second iteration, but I don't know the jingle company.

Also, I think 103.5 K-Lite in Manila uses the Europa Plus package from Pure Jingles, the same as Mellow 94.7.
