KLUV is now using resings of classic Z100 jingles. I believe this is the first time in a good while that JAM has actually been on the air in Dallas. And I think this also leaves KRTH as the only CBS Classic Hits station that’s *not* using JAM.
January 12, 2013 at 5:21 pm #88136IainJohnstonMemberAny off-air or stream audio examples available perhaps? (geo-blocking sometimes a problem for many JMers).
Does sound a bit like the “Tony Blackburn effect” – play the oldies with jingles more contemporary to when the music actually originally aired, for a more “authentic atmposhere”
January 12, 2013 at 5:22 pm #88137mjb1124MemberAuthorI’m working on it!
January 12, 2013 at 7:29 pm #88144mjb1124MemberAuthorHere you go. I’ve heard a mix of Flame Thrower and Skywave so far. Someone on Radio-Info.com also said they heard the DJ cut from Warp Factor, but I wasn’t able to catch that yet.
JAM on KLUV in 2013 by mjb1124
Hopefully these will last a good while – it seems like KLUV changes their jingles and/or slogans every 6 months or so. I remember they kept switching back and forth between TM and Tony Griffin.

January 12, 2013 at 11:16 pm #88160tyty21i knew it was bound to happen! KLUV was the next jam client up for bids! now that’s classic hits!
January 12, 2013 at 11:43 pm #88161tyty21the second jam go-round, don’t forget they were on a cross-town top40

January 13, 2013 at 10:20 am #88171gameswizardMemberAwesome sounding jingles. I wish we had this (station) in the UK.
January 13, 2013 at 2:25 pm #88181WAVAMemberKLUV is on air with the new JAM jingles.
Never thought I’d say this but nice move CBS (for a change).
Don’t touch the Johnny Mann singers on KRTH thoughJanuary 13, 2013 at 4:42 pm #88191mjb1124MemberAuthorI don’t think those will change at least as long as Jhani Kaye is the PD there. He’s got a lot of respect for the station’s (and KHJ’s) heritage.
Come to think of it, all the CBS Classic Hits stations are airing vintage top 40 jingles now. “Authentic atmosphere” indeed.
By the way, I think the first cut on kcmike’s montage is actually from TM – a sonovox take on one of the cuts from KLUV’s last custom. I’m guessing Ken Justiss did the sonovox on there?

right on so many points! even though kay’s the big jam fan, we thought he’d switch krth to jam jingles, but he respect khj and KRTH’s longtime standards with johnny mann, and could totally understand that fact. i think jim ryan took notes from kay as well. the prediction we had on him a few months ago didn’t come true!

Actually, if you want to count 100.3 Jack FM’s usage of “Skywave” back in 2004 (and a few other JAM cuts that I can’t remember off the top of my head at the moment), this is the 3rd go-round for “Skywave” in the Dallas-Fort Worth market.
But who cares!!! It’s great to hear JAM, especially in their own backyard.

January 22, 2013 at 8:11 am #88351WAVAMemberHaving just returned from Dallas the new JAM package really works. KLUV has so much energy with the classic re-sings.
Also Lite FM and their new Reelworld jingles are refreshing. -
