Yes that have, they posted some photos on their Twitter page when they were making them a few weeks ago.

Am I missing something here…or does that mean BBC Radio Wales (Scotland, Northern Ireland?) are not using the same naff cuts (purposely not used the word Jingles!) as
all the other BBC Local Stations :-?

The ‘Nations’ as they’re referred to Pete seem a law unto themselves, always have been, maybe always will be … and each fiercely independent from each other, there are much tales of drama from BBC Wales at least, and from a jingle perspective these stations have always seemed to go there own way, I believe Ulster were using WB also recently, and some PAMS via S2Blue, Scotland have always seemed to sound very serious in my opinon, an instrumental ‘Scotland The Brave’ might not of sounded too out of place at one stage, fairly sure they’re instrumental now … BBC Wales were also very Radio 4 up to the early 90’s when a more lively instrumental package appeared, several other kinds like that and then on to WB for the past few years, several packages and sung to boot !

From reading around I recall reading that BBC Radio Clwyd (local variant of Wales) and possibly several other off shoots have had Alfasound cuts in the past, BBC Radio Cymru the Welsh language station also uses sung jingles from WB … in Welsh !!!

BBC Radio Scotland has never used sung jingles; their “format” (a mis-nomer in their case) is a very wide-ranging one which has no relationship at all to the BBC Locals in England, or e.g. BBC Wales. Each programme tends to be a completely separate entity rather than that of “strip programming” of different presenters obeying a playlist or format.

The station is more “serious” and older-demographic orientated, yet has a rock show that certainly is more daring than any commercial station would attempt.

Beeb Scotland do occasionally use bland instrumental thingy-bits, barely worth calling “sounders” even. They did get updated recently, vaguely like 8 notes of the name, but the McCasso gunge doesn’t seem to be something to be “enforced” on to the Scottish listening public.

The Beeb at Pacific Quay probably wouldn’t know what to do with a sung ID if they were hit over the head with it!

BBC Radio Clwyd did indeed have Alfasound jingles.
