Now online: New & Now
We sometimes run a timer to see how long it takes before something we’ve added to our site makes it to a JingleMad discussion. I think the record was 45 minutes. But we decided to make it easier for you this time
September 7, 2012 at 10:42 pm #86312Good Time OldieVery fresh sounding Jon – love the solos, are they new singers added to the JAM fold?
September 7, 2012 at 10:44 pm #86313StarbrelzMemberGreat sound! If I hadn’t just been “downsized” I’d recommend it for where I, uh, used to work.
September 7, 2012 at 11:29 pm #86314mbMemberLove hearing the alternate vocalists and versions each one sounds like a custom.
September 8, 2012 at 12:12 am #86315jkthedjLove EVERY cut in EVERY city, Jon!
September 8, 2012 at 12:47 am #86316dianablanton1984MemberImpressive package!
September 8, 2012 at 1:39 am #86317tyty21very impressive!
September 8, 2012 at 3:40 am #86318BarrasThe jingles are superb, goes without saying………what great fun though, clicking the mouse and making an on-line montage !
September 8, 2012 at 6:33 am #86319mjb1124MemberWow… I was already liking the fresh-sounding tracks and strong clear vocals that I’d heard from Now 97.9 and Sunny 95, and now I’m really impressed hearing the tracks adapated to different logos, vocal styles, and jingle structures. JAM knocked it out of the park with this one, and hopefully more stations will take notice.
September 8, 2012 at 7:21 am #86320ratnobMemberWow indeed. I’m loving the tracks and I’m loving the vocals. Such melodic jingles, and it’s fascinating having the cuts side-by-side like this to hear their different nuances. What a start to the weekend! Thanks, Mr W (for pointing them out and, er, for making them in the first place).
September 9, 2012 at 11:22 am #86336LenGroat! Brilliant !
By juxtaposing the four variations on the package Jon has taken it on to a new level for comparison; far better than sitting through a cut-by-cut (as great as that is..)
Somehow he’s combined digital mixing, and superb writing together, to still make it ‘sound’ like JAM….
AND we have CLARITY of lyric which many of these other companies lack in their IDs because of too much echo, vibrato or alogothatissungfartoofast..
I’d have a set made from the 4 melody variations ~ it’s VERY dull having the same instrumental logo for the station on EVERY cut.
Well done JAM !
September 9, 2012 at 4:34 pm #86337BigdaveLove that vocal sound on the K104.7 cuts…fresh, contemporary, but have that great JAM sound we all know and love!
Good work,Jon!!
September 9, 2012 at 6:35 pm #86338muffyI think the Sunny .. girl vocal ” sunny” gets in the way .. I dont rate the sunny package but think the other three /styles work well .. great vocals .. and music to match ..
September 9, 2012 at 7:39 pm #86339gameswizardMemberI think the Sunny .. girl vocal ” sunny” gets in the way ..
Agreed.
It gets annoying. (I wonder who suggested that to be spoken in a sung jingle?).
September 9, 2012 at 7:50 pm #86341michiMemberBefore listening I thought, oh dear, please not another sleeper AC package. But actually, I am fairly impressed with this package. I was not impressed with the previous Jam “Fresh” package but this package is definitely an improvement. I do like how Jam is now going outside the box for vocals and I agree with the OP, the K104.7 is the best vocal arrangement. I also don’t care about the “Sunny” stuff.. that adds sleeper factor to the package (and is one turn off of the “Fresh NY” demo).. Now, if we can get a couple of good CHR clients into Parkdale and keep this energy flowing into that format.

Different strokes for different folks. While you may not like it, obviously the client did… and the job is to deliver a quality product which the client wants. The next client may want something totally different.
’nuff said.
September 9, 2012 at 8:51 pm #86343mjb1124MemberEchoing the sentiments of the previous posters, for the most part the K104.7 versions are my favorites and the Sunny 95 versions are my least favorites. I think the spoken part works better for the Now 97.9 cuts, and the vocals on those versions (and the others) sound better too for the most part. But I do like the way they adapted cuts 9 and 15 for “Sunny After Dark”. And Tracy’s right that they delivered what the client wanted (they previously gave a similar treatment to the Fresh NY package). It’s great that JAM was able to show such flexibility with this package, and overall the whole thing sounds great.
September 9, 2012 at 9:30 pm #86344tyty21i agree on the k104.7 cuts, they kept the KOST sound that we know and love with the 7-voice sound, but switched to 5 i think and kept the fresh sound.
September 9, 2012 at 10:21 pm #86345muffyI think that ” sunny” would have worked with a Shout ” Sunny” and a Whisper” sunny”
i always try to write jingles with a shout .. as you can use it with or without … as a solo cut ..
September 9, 2012 at 10:59 pm #86346mjb1124MemberI have heard Sunny 95 use mixes without the spoken “Sunny”, for what it’s worth. And JAM’s Keyframes as heard on Sunny 107.9 in West Palm Beach has a similar affect – the main jingles have a sung “Sunny” followed by a group shout, but they also sometimes use the versions without the shout. It’s good to have flexibility.

Please consider the fact that listening to all the cuts one after another is a very different experience from hearing a few cuts an hour on the air separated by songs, commercials and everything else. Although it’s fun to segue all these jingles together, that’s not what they’re really made for and it can give you a false sense of how the package is actually perceived in use. As has been pointed out, the spoken element is a continuation of how the logo was handled in the previous Fresh NY pacakge, which both Now and Sunny used quite effectively. Part of the reason for featuring other stations’ versions on the website was to demonstrate that the package can be done without a spoken element. And, of course, the cuts are mixed with and without it anyway for variety.Thank you all for your comments. We do read them all, so carry on…
September 10, 2012 at 10:58 am #86350passajouI love every cut. These packages will be my number 1 hit in my car this week.
September 10, 2012 at 3:31 pm #86351IainJohnstonMemberA very “re-fresh-ing” approach from Jon, if you’ll pardon the pun…
…and even more pleasing to see a previous JAM client from years back “RETURN to JAM” from “elsewhere”, a phrase many a collector or industry-watcher might not have expected to find too often in recent times.
A good result JMW!

Which station was that? I know Now and Sunny were using the JAM Fresh package previously – though I think Sunny might have gone jingle-free for a while in between, and they did use Reelworld material before getting the Fresh package. And K104.7 was previously using KOST stuff (in fact they haven’t completely phased out those cuts – I caught one on the stream alongside the New & Now cuts). Not sure what KSHA used before this.
September 10, 2012 at 5:57 pm #86354tyty21so a little of the new, and a little bit of the old on K. i like that!
