I’ve just returned from vacation in Sardinia and everywhere the radio seemed to be tuned to RDS, one of Italy’s national CHR stations. They made good use of a limited number of European sounding jingles – does anyone have any clues as to where they came from ?

Appreciate your collective thoughts – thanks

As an aside, there were 17 stations on FM available, more using jingles than not but unfortunately no JAM was to be heard.

just curious; why unfortunate? are you suggesting there is some kind of guatanteed franchise requirement here?
how ’bout another thought. if the ‘deal’ was any good, im sure you’d hear them playing all around.
capitalism and free enterprise are wonderful things. the “best” dog gets the bone, not the “biggest”, and the end result is the benefit to the consumer of the product.
it appears, even the italians, grasp this business model……
        good for them

coke is #1 for a reason. pepsi was #2 for the same reason. however, as it worked out; coke stayed at #1 and diet coke moved into #2 kicking pepsi to the curb.
i have no idea what % is what world wide, but i bet, in jingles, reelworld is the most used today. i hear no jam anywhere, unless its a pams re-sing. its just the way it is, and this too shall change. 5 years from now it could be ‘lcr’ or ‘music radio’ or ‘jingle factory’ or a rebirth of yet another form of ‘tm’. we just never know, but we do know there is no automatic entitlement for any of these guys, not in the real world, not when it involves money. ;-))
time for the old dog to find better sales people, better writers, and sharpen their pencil.

Spare us the business lecture Bob. You have picked up the wrong end of the stick and are now beating around the bush with it.

it is 2012. not 1980. if a product has staying power there would be demand. it is that simple.

a simple 1/3rd peroxide to 2/3rd warm water wash can help that ear wax problem though

Elsewhere on this forum, Jon at JAM makes the point that he is very happy with their product and current market penetration – they make what they are asked to make.

I was lamenting the fact that there does not appear to be any JAM on air in Sardinia at the moment, which is unfortunate for me, being a fan of this classic sound.

Same on the Spanish island of Majorca Chalks, no JAM, in fact, no TM, no Tony Griffen, no Reelworld, no Wise Buddah, didn`t hear any “sung jingles” at all. The station I listened to the most was called Rock FM and they have ONE liner for their station imaging, a guy with a Spanish (surprise, surprise) accent saying “Rock FM”.

The jingles from RDS (‘cento percento i grandi successi’ – 100% hits) were custom made by GrooveAddicts (now GrooveWorx). They were on their former site, but I cannot find them anymore. Maybe they will appear soon on http://www.grooveworx.com. I am a lot in Italy, and heared some new stuff on RDS too.

There are a few stations that heavily use sung jingles, like Latte Miele (‘Milk and Honey’) a AC station that plays a lot of Italian songs, and the number one in the market, CHR 102.5 RTL. RDS is number two by the way.

Thanks Marc – I’d have never guessed the jingles were from Groove. I now know where to aim a little email !

Just being back from holiday in France – sung jingles EVERYWHERE – definately a lot of Freeway product as always (naturally…); heard lot of sung IDs in Paris even on “niche market” stations such as as “Tropique” and the unusually-named “Soixante-dix-sept FM” (think about it! or plug it into an online translator…) who are actually on on 95.8…jingle vocals sounded vaquely Annalise Grey-ish or even soft-RW-ish).

Need a bit of searching for webstreams to explain much of what I heard in various places (my portable doo-dah radio-recorder not able to get signals more than a few miles from TX’s).

Marc – Latte Miele – I’m still always on the lookout for their early 2000’s package should you ever come across it!

PS – Jon W on JAM sonovox STILL frequently being used on NRJ “reseau” and Paris frequencies – hope JMW is getting his cheque… :-S

Much appreciate that link Marc – helps further show that there is a BIG world of quality sung jingles “out there” beyond just that of the English-language world of the USA and UK.

As for “la Contessa”, this gives me a bit more to “go digging” with for their jingle audio!
                          Thanks! :)
