JAM posted a cut-by-cut page for The Flame Thrower a few months ago, and now they've done the same for Warp Factor and Skywave. In addition, they've finally uploaded the demo for Red Hot.

What a great demo it is, too. Many cuts will be sounding very familiar to anyone who listened to Radio 1 (UK) in the late's '80's.
May 16, 2011 at 10:01 pm #78929BigdaveFingers crossed for Hyperlink cut by cut… and Best Show 2 as well! Barras
The only COMPLETE Z100 package by JAM from the station master, I`ve managed to collect is Flame Thrower, at #3284 on my jingle list. I heard on the grapevine that the Z100 station masters (there is a video on the net with Dave Foxx showing the station masters in a cupboard at Z100) are now missing… mumoss
Has anyone else noticed that with Skywave Cut #16, the version in the cut-by-cut section is sung slightly differently than the demo?

Well spotted, I`ve uploaded the tSkywave cuts here, you can hear the original cut #16 from 1988 and then the resung version…
JAM SKY WAVE #16 (ORIGINAL AND RESING).mp3
Ok, here`s my theory on why this cut was resung, I`m probably completely wroooooong but here goes !
The original Skywave demo was sung in 1988 and would have probably been recorded on reel-to-reel. As far as I know, Jon @ JAM started using DAT in around 1990. I reckon Skywave cut #16 on the original reel tape didn`t play properly because of a deterioation in the actual reel tape quality and had to be resung for the “cut-by-cut” uploads on the Jam website…just a theory !

Mumoss, I am completely impressed. I wondered aloud whether anyone would ever notice that miniscule difference, and if so how long it would take. So now I have the answers: yes, and not long at all. Very observant.

Interesting theory, but completely wrong. The version you're hearing on the cut-by-cut web page is the original version of the jingle. The station wanted it re-sung at the time, so when we built the demo we used the re-sung version that was actually airing then. But now it's 23 years later, and I always preferred the original mix, so I reverted to it when we assembled this page.
You've got to pay attention because I do little things like that just to amuse myself and see if any of you will notice. IainJohnston

You do realise now Jon that every die-hard Collector on this Forum will now scour EVERY JAM demo (tape-sourced or digital-era, old or re-released in cut-by-cut) and every resing they can find looking for whatever OTHER of these "little things" that they'll now become obcessed with finding such nuances (perceived or real) first !
:^)May 21, 2011 at 3:32 pm #78979BarrasWell, I said I would be wrong and I was !
At least Jon said it was an "interesting theory" mumoss

Thanks, Jon! Skywave is one of my favourite packages, so that's how I noticed it. Listened to it countless times.
I think I prefer the original mix too. It just feels more distinctive, somehow.
May 23, 2011 at 2:42 pm #78999BarrasIf you`re still there Jon, how about this audio for "another" JAM rip off…this time from Positron…
May 23, 2011 at 2:46 pm #79000IainJohnstonMemberWhat version of what audio program are you creating these with David?
Its "invalid media" again!PS – are these the Piccadilly ALfasound "JAM sound-alikes"?
May 23, 2011 at 7:29 pm #79007BarrasAdobe Audition – it`s a clone copy of the narration from Positron…
I wonder if it`s your PC Iain ??? – as no one else has commented and I`ve played my recent files out on several computers and they`ve worked ok….

Anyway…its Win Me!
RjMPleased to say I noticed the different sound to Skywave cut 16 on the first listen too! Think I have to agree with Z100 here though and say I prefer the re-sing.
As for noticing these little details, not quite the same, but I noticed recently that the Rock Connection (great little package, Rock FM had fantastic re-sing of cut#2 in '95) demo has appeared in the Classic Hits/oldies section. Only it's had the "If you're an album rock station…" intro chopped off, and now starts at the "Here's something to think about" part. If you'd not heard the original demo you'd never know. Perhaps to appear to a wider market?

This must have just been put up. Rock Connection was previously listed under AC jingles with no demo. Cooljam also has its demo under Classic Hits/Oldies now, after previously being demo-free in the Hot and CHR section. Additionally, All Oldies and Good Time Radio (which had been in the oldies section all along) have their demos up.
It does seem like JAM is trying to get all of their demos available for download, which is great. All but three of the AC packages listed have their demos up, and the same goes for Hot/CHR. There are still a good number of older News/Talk and Country packages missing, which I can understand because there probably isn't a big demand for them. But who knows, they may pop up in due time.
And I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the resung on-air version of Skywave cut 16 sounds better.

I just feel stupid for not realising you could click "Include all packages" and list ones that don't currently have the demo online!
Plus 3, Make It Mellow, The Music You Want, New York 97… never heard any of those. But I'll content myself with Cooljam for now, which until tonight I hadn't heard either mjb1124
MemberAuthorNoticed another new cut-by-cut page: Class Action. Each cut is listed with its title (as seen on the lyric sheet) in parenthesis followed by the lyrics. I noticed that the Positron and Pro/Mod pages were also updated to this format.

Fantastic. Always love the cut names given to those early JAM packages – wish they hadn't stopped, although I suppose it'd get harder and harder to come up with them…
May 31, 2011 at 11:36 pm #79096mumossY107.9 Chicago? I'm sure there are others but I can't recall them.
Doesn't ring a bell, unfortunately. This is going to drive me mad…
June 10, 2011 at 9:55 pm #79240Maya53Something out of curiosity, I was on the ASCAP website searching for any new JAM customs that have not been announced on its website, and I just came up with a new package for WWWQ-HD2 out of Atlanta. I know that the HD2 portion for the main station WWWQ will be a simulcast for the new and upcoming adult contemporary station called "Journey 97.9", which has not hit the air as of yet. That station is owned by Cumulus, which also own sister station WNNF "Journey 94.1" out of Cincinnati. It is a new AC station that was launched last month. I listened to their stream and the jingles they were playing sounded a little bit like JAM, but they are not using the full Dallas sounding group like the other packages does. I'm wondering if anyone could help me because the new "Journey" station that is going to launch in Atlanta will be expecting to use JAM. You can listen to the station's stream below:
http://live.cumulusstreaming.com/WNNF-FM
Maybe this might ring a bell..it sounds like a new JAM custom to me..but not like the older hot AC/CHR packages from years past.
