Interesting read…from a jingle collectors point of view, I reckon the largest jingle package I have in my jingle collection is the JAM composite package for BBC WM…
19 JAM – BBC WM (Composite reel 1 – 54:18 – 1988 to 1991)
20 JAM – BBC WM (Composite reel 2 – 65:00 – 1988 to 1991)
January 20, 2011 at 6:49 pm #77214GlennaMemberI bet it wasn't done over night.
January 20, 2011 at 10:46 pm #77225GrahamCollinsThe BBC R2 1986 package (which is 4 reels@15ips) is surely a contender for the second longest package – total run time is 106' 05″ with test tones.
January 21, 2011 at 9:42 am #77237IainJohnstonMemberThere's something on the article about it really being x-number of actual “jingles” – the other 200-and-whatever are no doubt just mix-outs.
Somehow I doubt that even a fraction of the “package” will ever actually get used on-air.
That even happens with “mini-packages”!January 21, 2011 at 1:59 pm #77239DavidHemsleyWhat about stuff like Kissville which is a continually expanding package?

Hate to say it but those are three different packages. Feb 1988 is reel 2 (originally two reels at 15 ips) and two packages from 1990 and 1991 is reel 1 (the later being featured on the Alfasound BBC LR CD).
There is the mythical Beacon Radio 303 1976 package by EMIson which, legend has it was mixed out to a whole five reels at 15 ips.
January 22, 2011 at 12:49 am #77255BarrasOooooooopppppps, WM isn`t the biggest single package then……….. for the time being I`ll go with Graham about the Radio Two reels.
I`ll reassess this and checkout other BIG packages – this one might be a contender…
5164 WISE BUDDAH – Metro Radio UK (208 cuts – 2009) EMBARGOED
January 22, 2011 at 7:47 am #77259AdminWhen I purchased Reelworld One CHR for Channel 4 last year, I also paid for all of the montly updates since the service began.
I got back 68 actual jingles. 53 of those were basic ID's and the rest was made up with utility cuts for news, weather, traffic, winner etc etc. With all the mixouts it equated to 1,245 seperate files. So at 68, I would say that was one of the biggest (it only JUST fits onto a DVD).
That was Feb 2010. Since then we received another 26 basic ID's as part of the service.

The Metro package is made up of 12 main themes only. The rest are mixouts.
January 22, 2011 at 10:39 am #77262newsbeatRadio 1s new Pure Tonic package has hundreds of hundreds of cuts, but most of them are just dry workparts, like 'Radio 1' 'BBC' ect.
January 23, 2011 at 1:09 pm #77281GrahamCollinsNewsbeat, Radio 1 hasn't had a proper station jingle package on air since 2001! Perhaps you need to bragg about what you've got on our sister site http://www.productionelementmad.com

January 23, 2011 at 5:43 pm #77290newsbeatI know they aren't 'jingles' as such, but these Christmas cuts are quite good.

68 is a good contender but from the jingle research I`ve done, I believe Graham is right about saying the four reels of the 1986 set for BBC Radio 2 is the largest jingle package in the world (unless any one else knows different !).
Here`s my analysis of BBC Radio 2 (1986)…
Two of those reels are “composites” and the other two reels are “custom” – I loaded the four dubs (reels) into Adobe Audition and counted a total of 336 jingles (some of those are instrumentals).
Reel 1 = 20 resings (55 cuts)
Reel 2 = 50 resings (95 cuts)
Reel 3 = 26 resings (102 cuts)
Reel 4 = 04 resings (41 cuts excluding the 43 DJ name check acapellas !)A total of 100
January 24, 2011 at 3:57 pm #77316BarrasBump….anyone know of a bigger package ?
