Looks like this is the end of the line for the JAM Up2date package on KEZK, unless they have those cuts resung to reflect the new brand. But it's more likely that they will use one of the packages designed for the “Fresh” brand. If that's the case hopefully they will stick with JAM and use the Fresh NY package. The website says they will continue to play more traditional artists like Billy Joel, Chicago, and Bryan Adams, and I can't imagine the ReelWorld Fresh 102.7 package fitting in with that. Maybe it will even be a new custom package, for all we know. But we'll have to see what happens on December 27.
December 9, 2010 at 10:31 pm #76708ratnobMemberWell-spotted: we'll watch with interest. Fresh Chicago is with JAM and NY with ReelWorld, I think, so let's see what happens …
December 9, 2010 at 10:52 pm #76709Maya53This gets interesting, but we have to wait and see what happens on December 27. I really doubt that they will use the same package they are airing now once they switch to the “Fresh” brand, plus it's unlikely that it will feature a traditional “JAM” sound(except for Fresh NY) since most of the package used by the Fresh stations have a different sounding up to this day. Plus they just hired a new PD.
If they claim they will be playing artists like Billy Joel, Chicago, and Bryan Adams, then there is a possibility that they might throw in some 70's songs like most AC stations play today. In this scenario, they could opt for a full, traditional JAM sounding custom package for this station, something that most Fresh stations never aired up to this point so far. And when I say “traditional JAM sound”, I meant a full Dallas vocal group. That will be the case as KEZK had historically used JAM jingles for as long as I can remember and is consulted by Gary Berkowitz, who is a big fan of JAM.

What about the Zone Radio Imaging package for KEZK?
December 10, 2010 at 1:13 am #76713dianablanton1984MemberI am kind of worried about the KEZK re-branding, jingle-wise. If they used Reelworld, then that station would go downhill from there. Their “Fresh 102.7” package does not fit KEZK at all in my opinion!

Their “Fresh 102.7” package does not fit KEZK at all in my opinion! As I stated before, the station will still be playing Billy Joel, Chicago as part of their rotation, so there is some possibility that a possible new custom package may not sound like the other 'Fresh' stations as they focus on mainly current artists and they occasionally play some 80s hits from time to time. That is also my concern because personally, any new Fresh stations that debuts usually go for JAM(Fresh NY), ReelWorld or Zone(i.e. Fresh 94.7 in DC) which is what I like. But KEZK, given that they use several JAM packages throughout the years from my understanding(including the recent Up2Date package), may become the first Fresh station to use a traditional JAM sound(full Dallas vocals) or something similar because of the station that has been leading older and softer.
December 27, 2010 at 3:08 pm #76972mjb1124MemberAuthorI think they may have dropped whatever pre-80's music they were still playing, but otherwise they're still softer and more gold-based than the other Fresh stations. I really don't see how these jingles fit in with their mix of music at all. It also kind of bugs me how they turned “five” into a two-syllable word (as they did for “nine” on the Chicago version). But oh well, at least KOST is going back to JAM and is using some of the Up2date package. You win some, you lose some.

December 27, 2010 at 3:53 pm #76974mjb1124MemberAuthorI seem to remember that they were playing Lady Gaga and Katy Perry before. And Bruno Mars' song is a big AC hit right now. So it's not a big step for KEZK to be playing it.
December 27, 2010 at 4:06 pm #76975dianablanton1984MemberI kind of figured KEZK would use Reelworld, but yes I agree with the format that they are leaning to…
December 28, 2010 at 6:22 pm #76976BarrasThought I`d have ANOTHER mince pie and checkout what Reelworld sounds like on KEZK but got this message here in the UK…”Oooops. We`re having trouble finding that station. Please try another station, or try again later”…ok, I`ll try again later…
December 28, 2010 at 7:55 pm #76977GlennaMemberI cannot listen or download the EZK cut.
December 28, 2010 at 8:35 pm #76979mjb1124MemberAuthorI guess the MP3 got bitten by the bug. Let's try this again.
December 28, 2010 at 8:37 pm #76980mjb1124MemberAuthorOkay, so much for that. Well, in the meantime, you can hear one of the jingles here: http://fresh1025.radio.com/welcome/
December 30, 2010 at 6:02 pm #76994kcmikeWNIC, Detroit also rebranded as Fresh 100.3 on December 27th stumping the Michigan radio bloggers who declared it would rebrand as My100.3. Different graphic logo and decidedly hotter AC than KEZK. WNIC is owned by Clear Channel and KEZK by CBS. Haven't heard any jingles yet.
December 31, 2010 at 9:49 am #76996MarcMannetjeThat is really a difference Jessie. With the playlist of WNIC I would not choose a Fresh package but go for a more Modern AC guitar driven imaging…

January 10, 2011 at 6:07 pm #77080GlennaMemberSounds like a bad JAM ripoff.
January 10, 2011 at 6:28 pm #77081mbMemberI'm npot sure about the singing of the “five” on these cuts.
On the recent Reelworld stuff i'm not hesaring the quality that we got on the early packages like Big 105, it's such a shame as I really like a lot of thier stuff but the last couple of years not as goodJanuary 10, 2011 at 9:21 pm #77085MarcMannetjeYou know what it is all about? About touching your listener, making an impression, getting involved. And whatever jingles KEZK uses, these will not work. They say/sing the name, they have a logo melody, they do their job but they DO NOT get in to the heart and mind of their audiency.
Marketing is about creating a first spot in the brains AND heart of your core target group for your product. Radio is all about using vocal, musical audio resources we can… And KEZK doesn't do it.
Will they get quotes and revenues? Of course. Will they create brand preference or an emotional relation with listeners…? I am afraid not.
It is hard to say because even Reelworld tries to create the best, musical imaging…
