Just announced by Sally “Traffic” as breaking news on Steve Wrights show at 4.55. She advised that the traffic jingle was about to be replaced after 13 years. As it is the right time of the year that stations traditionally have new packages, could we perhaps hope and look forward that a complete overhaul may be on it's way,and PLEASE CAN IT BE JAM. Anybody have any inside info.

I have no inside info, but what if Radio 2 were to go Mcasso like BBC Local Radio?

Being serious, although JAM is good, I'd prefer to hear something from a UK jingle company – Maybe Music4? Or S2Blue?

13 years is a long time for a jingle package, with any other radio station a hint like this would mean that they're getting new jingles… but lets not jump to any conclusions to Radio 2, it might be that they're doing another update from Wise Buddah or Groove Jingles. Its only this year they did their last update!

Edit @ 7:38pm: Just listened back to the recording… Sally said “its pretty similar, the new one”, which would suggest its just an update to the existing package, not a completely new one.

Don't get too excited … AFAIK it's just a slight re-fresh for travel and news, nothing else. My sources maybe wrong but that's what I've heard on the grapevine.

I personally quite like the current Radio 2 package so wouldn't really be annoyed if it stayed. But I wouldn't be to annoyed if it went either.

'A refresh of travel and news' effectively means a complete new package then! TOH sweepers aside these are pretty much the only jingles that are played each hour.

There really is no point in R2 spending £50K on a large musical package if there are only a couple of jocks who know how to use them.

Let's hope we only have to wait 10 years for these to be updated…….yawn.

Well a bit different to the current jingle, but I feel the style and singing is very similar to a lot of the commercial stations!!
