The new WLS custom is now on JAM's site:

sounds like cut 2 was based on a custom package for WTMJ (also used by the BandNews FM stations here in Brazil).

here's a TOTH example from BandNews FM 96.9 São Paulo:

            Great package.

I've only had a few minutes to listen to these but this is a 100% classic JAM package.

I particularly like the new custom cuts; 6-9 would work on a music or news station, and 10-13 are just great simple IDs, with the brevity and impact of Priority One.

I'm always fascinated to hear how cuts are adapted for other logos. I just wish more stations in the UK realised how sticking with an audio logo for years ensures your station is instantly recognisable.

If only there was also a traditional demo along with all the individual cuts. I want something I can listen to in the car…

I haven't heard all the cuts yet, but I'm already impressed! Keep up the great work, JAM!

                    Yours Sincerely,

                      Thanks John for sharing this.

I totally agree about re-arranging sonic logo's into syndicated packages! Investing in your musical logo takes years, when it's top of mind and has a modern melody why not keep it for decades? A lot of succesfull stations work like that (KIIS/Z100 but also RTL Berlin, NRJ Radio in Europe and Sky Radio in Holland, the station names have been sung with the same notes for years). And they all have big ratings…

Before the release of Stage 10, I was familiar with cuts 1, 3, 8, 10, and 13 while picking up WLS during the night in Dayton, Ohio. There was no doubt in my mind that it was pure JAM all the way, and after hearing ALL the cuts, I just had to say: Awesome package!

Great sound. I believe they just started using cut 2 as the main top of the hour, replacing cut 1 on air. And you don't hear the “Chicago's Talk Station” cuts, only the short versions. And they also stopped using that Casey Kasem jingle into the hourly show segments..

I can't wait to time that it can be downloaded.

Beaver – just play them and capture them with any reasonable (free even) audio editor package!

                                Sorry;
I'm in no position to do that.

Downloading is the easy bit – extracting the audio from the .swf files takes a little more knowledge and patience but the results are worth it.

Not quite what you're talking about, but of the adapted jingles, I've just done a montage of the original versus the Stage 10 versions. Forgive my still slightly raw editing skills!

I do not have internet at home so I go to the library.

If you'd said about that right away (a long, long time back) instead of all these cryptic brief one-liners, we'd have realised your situation!

Well Gents – think we could get a CD to Glen with lots of the “goodies” he's missed out on all this time?
