Listening to the stream I heard cuts from Reelworlds 'The New Mix 96.5'-package on WNIC… Did they choose another format? Much more modern AC playlist and guitars in the motorcity… I know ratings in the morning were low but the station wasn't doeing that bad… Anyone knows more?
May 15, 2010 at 3:22 pm #73952Viakennyhere in São Paulo, Brazil, Metropolitana FM, a CHR station, has used RW KHMX until about a year and a half ago, when they switched to RW Key 103 2009. any São Paulo members have some Metropolitana resings other than the one in the ReelWorld montage?
May 31, 2010 at 3:15 pm #74140mattii70How strange, are Clear Channel getting some special discount on old Reelworld packages for their AC stations? At least these might be a closer fit than the CHR jingles on WLTW.
June 1, 2010 at 5:10 pm #74147GlennaMemberCan probably the same with JAM or TM.
Most likely RW trying to take over the used jingle market by under cutting other companies.June 2, 2010 at 12:42 am #74153gavanbrudererReelworld is marketed through Premiere in the US. Premiere is a subsidary of Clear Channel, so it is very likely that Clear Channel is using that companionship on most of their stations.
June 2, 2010 at 6:23 am #74154MarcMannetjeWhy? Isn't programming about getting the best on air production for the best results?
Scoping through all packages available makes me wonder why stations pick a package that just does not fit their image, playlist or even name and 'stationality'(thanks to Jahni Kaye for this word!).
Another question
Let's say I was to advice/produce new audio imaging for a station, and I would not want Reelworld but need a modern AC-sound. What should I take?
We're about to switch from WNIC-sound to 'new'. Although made in the 90s, the Q95-packages from JAM (especially the first custom one, Q Cuts), really stands out in sound and musicality. What is you opinion? Thanks!

June 2, 2010 at 2:29 pm #74156theniceguyAhhh, it brings me back to those good old days of pirate Radio delta. They used the slogan.. Delta staat aan on a Q-package
Marc, why not negotiate with Top Format for custom jingles in WNIC style. Like Omroep Brabant has, based on the WLS packages they used. As long standing customer i'm sure Frank & Bart can help you. And another advantage; You don't have to throw away all the 'wnic'jingles you bought over the years.
June 2, 2010 at 4:20 pm #74158MarcMannetjeThanks Maarten and others! Well I'm not a big fan of customizing, it's too expensive and you can't hear what you get.
Furthermore the orchestration of JAM is 'Uni-Que', and there are a lot of Q95-jingles to cherry pick from…
June 2, 2010 at 6:44 pm #74162MarcMannetjeThanks! I'm afraid our direct competitor uses those Lite FM packages. But you're right they sound fresh and modern but still very AC…!
June 2, 2010 at 8:41 pm #74164theniceguyPerhaps The Radio 2 collection (and it' all for you) from JAM is something you might like : )
June 3, 2010 at 6:37 am #74165theniceguyAnd here's a Delta Radio Q jingle (in Dutch)

June 3, 2010 at 7:10 am #74166MarcMannetjeThanks guys, very helpful!
In my opinion, after the Q Cuts series, the Q 95 packages started sounding much more general. The first commissioned by Gary Berkowitz were a lot more Uni-Que compared to for example Hi Cume… Effects, rhythm-parts, Q Cuts had a sound that really was different…
Agreed? Or did I hear things wrongly?
June 3, 2010 at 5:31 pm #74170MarcMannetjeBack to the jingle search: I really liked using the little songs from the WNIC series. They capture the feel of the day, you can put lyrics and melody to. It made the station stand in the middle of the community, bond with the listeners. A lot of cuts are not made like this anymore… Here some examples:

June 4, 2010 at 5:15 pm #74184GlennaMemberMarc;
Your posting is one I was thinking about sometime back when Its Nice resings got brought up.
Now if I understood what they were singing I would have it made.September 1, 2010 at 9:05 pm #75343kcmikeLooks like the KHMX jingles at WNIC will be gone soon. Rumors have been flying around that WNIC is about to re-brand itself as My100.3 – possibly as early as this Thursday. For the past few months WNIC's playlist has gotten hotter; they've added Jay Towers (formally of WDRQ and the JAM Hot Wired demo) in the morning; and this week, all of the liners, station ID sweepers, and most of the current jingles have disappeared. Clear Channel has also registered the domain my100detroit.com which until recently directed right to wnic.com. Coincidentally, Towers does middays via voice tracking at WISX, My106.1 in Philadelphia.
As for jingles, if WNIC is to be a clone of WISX, then they will probably use Reelworld KTU 2005, which is used at My106.1

September 17, 2010 at 5:11 pm #75492Bryan SimmonsTo say that I don't understand the appeal of Real World would be an understatement. We've been saddled with them for over a year now and I guess after all my years as a deejay/presenter I've gone dumb, because I don't think they're any good. I keep hearing people say, oh JAM sounds old, we need something new and they hold RW up as a savior. I find RW jingles to be loud and overly processed with singers who scream instead of singing. Plus all the instrumentation sounds synthesized. Seems kind of sad that so many people can't tell the difference between good jingles and bad ones. To me, RW jingles dont' sound new, they sound very retro, and bad retro at that. I remember the old JAM WNIC jingles and they were beautiful, so sad that they like other CC stations have been saddled with RW.
September 17, 2010 at 5:47 pm #75494GlennaMemberBryan;
Your preachin to the choir here.
We know what jingles are SUPPOSE to sound like.
Its too bad not everyone knows what they are suppose to sound like.September 17, 2010 at 8:26 pm #75496ratnobMemberBryan
Appreciate you commenting publicly: really interesting to hear the views of someone who's using the jingles on air.
September 18, 2010 at 5:05 pm #75500GlennaMemberIts sounds like WNIC needs a little BERKO MAGIC.
